(☁) Nightmare

Oh sleeping, it's a pleasure for some people and a bother for others.For George thought it was completely different, he used to hate it, he hated it so much he would take pills to stay awake, but it always ended up with him falling asleep again. When George was younger he would have this recurrent nightmare of a tall masked man staring at him, he hated him, he hated sleeping because of him. Soon that hatred would turn into curiosity, he started getting closer to him in his dreams. Eventually, the hate became friendship, the best friendship he would ever have.

People looked at him crazy as a kid, he was obsessed with the man with the mask, he went to sleep waiting for him, he talked about his day with the man, not that he could speak but he still listened to him that was what mattered.

George started to grow up and the nightmares started to fade he forgot about his best friend. 

Sometimes he would find things familiar or had a feeling of guilt he thought nothing about it thought.

Today was George's 18th birthday everything went great. Then he had to go to sleep, he felt weird, a strange chill went down his spine before getting into bed, but he ignored it and went to bed.

He woke up in a strange place, it seemed to be a little kid's bedroom. He explored it for a bit, but nothing seemed to happen. Suddenly he heard a loud bang, he didn't know where it came from when a door appeared and a blonde green-eyed man came out of it. He greeted George and sat beside him:

"Hello, George I missed you!". His tone was serious but calming, George felt safe around him, he quickly continued, "I'm Dream, you remember me right?"

"I don't think I do? I'm sorry" George felt ashamed he felt like he really needed to remember Dream but he just couldn't bring himself to do so."Really funny George! I'm your best friend Dream we used to hang out every day," he said in his nervous but still clam voice.

"I'm sorry Dream I don't-". Before he could finish the sentence Dream interrupted him "George you have to remember me I'm your best friend" his voice wasn't calm anymore it sounded desperate. Dream grabbed George's arm softly "George I..." His words faded as the whole room turned into a black void with nothing but Dream words repeating themselves.

George woke up soon after "What in the actual fuck was that dream.." He said in a tired voice. "Dream...I wonder what is that I have to remember" he looked at the time it was 5 am so he went back to sleep.

He spent the rest day thinking about it, Dream, what a strange name. Soon again it was time to go to bed George didn't know what to expect this time, why was he nervous it was just another of his nightmares, right?

He went to bed and eventually fell asleep, and again Dream was there. This time he seemed sad as if something horrible just happened to him. George sat beside the blonde one.

"Umm...Hey, Dream?" George wasn't sure of this but he felt bad since last time."Oh! Yeah sorry, hi George" Dream seemed distracted but George didn't think much about it.

They talked for what seemed to be hours, to George's surprise Dream was pretty funny. Time flew past and it was time for George to wake up.

"Bye George I hope I see you again soon" Dream said ending the phrase with a warm smile"Oh... I guess you are right bye Dream" George seemed disappointed, they said goodbye, and Dream left.

"What now... I'm still dreaming righ-" Before he could finish George woke up to the sound of his alarm ring through his ears, "7 am already god" George whined as he got ready for his day.

And then he went to sleep, he was there I mean he always was there. George loved to spend time with Dream more than he could imagine, it was his favorite time of the day. He noticed how he has been happier these last months because of the man.It was the fact that he listened to everything he said, he helped him, he was always there for him. Was George really falling for Dream? That can be, he repeated himself, he was just a random guy from his dreams after all...

Finally, it was time to sleep and George had already planned what to speak with Dream.He woke up in a lonely kid's bedroom.Dream wasn't there.

"What.." George was confused this has never happened before.

He waited.

And waited.

And he woke up.

"What was that about?" George was kinda upset he really wanted to see Dream but he just wasn't there. The day passed boring as usual and he went to sleep.

Nothing.

Then another day passed.

Nothing.

Then another, and another, and another...

Where was he? Where was Dream when George needed him? He couldn't just leave George right,? He needed to see Dream, he needed Dream.

George didn't love Dream, George needed him, he needed Dream to listen to him, he needed him to laugh at the dumbest jokes he could make, he needed him to just sit in silence without feeling the need to say anything.But he wasn't there.

Another night, George was about to lose hope when he woke up in the same room with the person he most awaited to see."Dream...?" George just stared at the male with a broken smile."Where were you Dream, I knew you wouldn't just leave me god I missed you so mu-" Dream got closer and hugged the man.

"George listen carefully, I need to go you have matured, you don't need me anymore I just wanted to say bye because I really enjoyed our time together" "What are you talking about Dream?" George was confused, he just got him back and now he is leaving? "Dream I need you what..." George broke the hug and looked at Dream in the eyes, he had such a sad look on his face.

"You don't need me anymore"

 "No, you are right. I don't need you" George looked away "I love you Dream"

"George please don't make this harder than it should be, I have to go"

 "Dream I'm serious, I love you don't leave me" George was a crying mess at this point, the man he loved disappeared for a whole week now he is saying he is not coming back? No way this couldn't be happening.

"I'm sorry" Dream said before fading away

The room turned into a black void and George woke up.
