Damsel in Distress

I am not the little mermaid
who would deal with a sea witch
just for a man who's not mine;

Nor I am a caged princess
who'd fall for prince-in-disguise
wishing in magic lamps;

Nor would I wait for a stranger
to climb at my hidden tower
before I would chase my dream;

Nor go running to the woods,
frightened by an insecure woman
talking to a mirror on the wall;

Nor would I ever be enslaved
to some widowed mistress
only to be saved by a glass shoe;

I am not this kind of girl,
I am not a damsel in distress.

So if you'd want to play hero
or as prince charming,
And don't want your heart break,
Find someone else, fruitcake.
