"When you said we were going to a safe-house I started to doubt you when we pulled into the neighborhood but this," she makes am point of looking around at the barred windows and the metal doors, "this is something else. I feel like I'm in a movie."

"Might as well be." I set my helmet down on the counter before heading over to the single landline that sits by a chair in the corner of the room. I dial my boss' direct line.

"I see you've made it. Unscathed, I take it?"

"It went smoother than expected, if I'm completely honest."

"Good. Do you think she will cooperate?"

I look over to Dani who is pacing around the room uncomfortably and debate for a moment before answering, "yeah, I think she will. She may have some demands about a certain someone."

He lets out a wry laugh. "I was expecting as much after your last report. I don't know what we'll be able to do for him, if anything, Torey." I had figured he'd say as much. How do you keep an assassin safe from a group of trained assassins? The answer— you don't. He knew that. I knew that. Dani can't seem to wrap her head around that.

"What's the plan?"

"Your son." He pauses briefly. "Do you think there is any way to get him to the safe-house?" I furrow my brow at that request but he adds, "I thought the meeting would best be held there instead of here at the main office. Less transportation as well. After your initial meet we'll have a van bring the three of you into protective custody. It's safer that way." I think about my father's security team that was currently guarding their house and our family. They'd be able to bring him here safely.

"Yeah, we can make that happen. I need to make a few phone calls but it's doable."

"You know where the burner phones are. Make it happen within the next twenty-four hours. Call me when it's done, when you have him." With that, he ends the call.

"What's going on?" Dani asks as she watches me head over to where there are an array of burner phones.

"Give me a minute." I grab one and wrack my brain for Seth's number when I can't seem to remember it, who can blame me for after six years of no contact with any of my family, I dial my father. After asking for Seth's number he gives it to me and then ends the call, clearly still aggravated with me. Probably even more irritated with the fact that I hadn't even said goodbye to any of my parents.

My conversation with Seth is direct and to the point, not belaboring anything. He'd hesitantly agreed to bring him which I found rather infuriating considering I'm Wolf's father. We agreed that he'd bring him over later in the evening, preferably under the cover of darkness. That he'd make the arrangements with the security detail. After I hang up the phone I run my hands through my hair and blow out a deep breath.

"Wolf is coming here? As in here, here?"

"Boss thinks it's safer to do the meeting and the transport at the same location."

"Is there even anything in here for children, Torey?" She looks around at the place throwing her hands up in frustration. "This is hardly a place for a child under two years old."

"It's temporary, Dani. We'll be taken directly into custody after." She lets out an exasperated noise. "It's the best we can do right now."

"What time will they be over?"

"Around ten. Wolf will be fast asleep and all we'll have to worry about is the morning and getting everything settled." She wrings her hands out in front of her, looking completely nervous and uneasy. I walk up to her and wrap my arms around her. "Everything is going to be okay, Dani. I promise."
