Chapter one

Lexi was doing her check ups on all her patients when gunshots rang off, she ducked under one of her patients bed and covered her mouth.

She heard someone walk in, the beeping on the patients monitor stopped working, so they leaned over the bed.

Lexi assumed that the person thought Rick was dead, once she heard the door shut, she climbed out from under the bed, and started checking for a pulse.

Once she found one she smiled slightly and sat back, she hears more gunshots and got scared, she hid in the bathroom silently.

Once it was dark, Lexi stood up and walked over to the door, she opened the door and saw that all the lights were out.

She slowly walked over to the vending machine, she tried to give it her money, but it was turned off, she grabbed a mug and threw it at the glass.

The glass shattering making a loud noise, she carefully walked over the glass and grabbed a bunch of chips and small things to eat before running back to Rick's room.

He was still in a daze, like always when he woke up, Lexi checked his vitals than sat down in the corner and started eating a bag of chips.

A month later

Lexi stayed with Rick, even when they were bombing the place the night before last night.

She checked his vitals, and his IV, Lexi sighed and looked at Rick. "You need to wake up." She whispered, and as soon as he said that, his eyes fluttered open.

Lexi jumped back, startled at him actually waking up, he looked around in confusion, Lexi stayed silent until he looked at her.

"Hi." She mumbled, Rick sat up slowly and looked at her.

She was in her nurse scrubs, they were slightly dirty, and her face was also slightly dirty.

"Hi." He mumbled back, still confused, she walked forward and grabbed her stethoscope and looked at him, he nodded.

Lexi silently started checking his heart beat, he breathed in deeply and exhaled.

"It's a good thing you woke up now." Lexi muttered, Rick looked at her with a confused look.

"Why?" He asked, his voice still scratchy by being in a coma for a month.

Lexi sighed and looked at him, she than looked outside, and frowned. "Look outside." She muttered, looking at the all the dead bodies and truck full of dead bodies.

Rick stood up, than fell, Lexi ran to him and helped him stand up, they both opened the door and moved the bed.

Lexi helped Rick walk around, he looked at everything in horror, Lexi grabbed a pack of matches on the counter and smiled.

"I'm Lexi by the way." She said kindly, Rick smiled and looked at her.

"Rick, but you already know that." He said, Lexi chuckled and he pushed open the exit door.

It was pitch black once the door closed, Lexi lit the match and they started walking down the stairs.

"How long have I been out?" Rick asked, Lexi sighed and looked back at him.

"Uhm about a month.." She mumbled, Rick looked at her and the match went out.

"A month?!" He whisper yelled, Lexi nodded and lit another match, Rick opened the door to the exit and they were met with a smell that neither of them could stand.

Lexi gagged and covered her her nose, Rick scrunched up his nose, they looked at the dead bodies with disgusted looks.

"Did my family ever come to see me?" Rick whispered, Lexi looked at him and smiled.

"Alot, you're boy Carl wanted to donate his blood for you. Lori always fell asleep next to you, and Shane always fell asleep in the chair." Lexi said, Rick chuckled and shook his head.

"You stayed with me the whole time?" Rick asked, Lexi felt her cheeks heating up and she nodded. "Thank you." Rick said, Lexi nodded with a small smile.

"Where do you wanna go?" Lexi asked, Rick looked at her than back down.

"My house." Rick said, Lexi nodded and they started walking, Rick kept the conversation going, and Lexi could not stop smiling.

Once they were at his house, Rick immediately ran inside, he started calling for Lori and Carl.

When he didn't get a respond he sat down and put his face in his hands, Lexi rubbed his back carefully.

"We'll find them." She told him, he looked up at her and smiled.

"Wanna get out of those clothes?" He asked walking to his room, Lexi followed behind him.

He opened the closet and handed her some jeans and a shirt, lexi tool the greatfully.

Rick than threw two things at her, once she looked at them, she saw it was bra and underwear, Lexi glared.

"Rick Grimes, I am not wearing you're wifes underwear." Lexi said, Rick chuckled and grabbed them back, he looked at her and smiled.

"Then don't." Rick said, Lexi chuckled and walked into the bathroom that connected with the room, Rick also changed.

Once he was done he knocked on the door of the bathrooms, and opened it, Lexi was standing there staring at herself, she washed the dirt off her face, and looked clean.

"Wow." Rick whispered, not loud enough for her to hear, Lexi turned her head and smiled at him.

"Where are we gonna go now?" She asked, she pulled on some boots Rick gave her.

"Uh I don't know yet." Rick mumbled, Lexi chuckled and looked around.

"Should we look for food in you're house? You haven't eaten for a while." Lexi said, Rick nodded and they walked into the kitchen.

Rick started looking for food as Lexi sat on the counter, Rick looked back at her and smiled. "How old are you?" He asked, Lexi chuckled and looked down at her hands.

"I'm twenty." Lexi said, Rick looked at her with a confused look.

"And you're already a nurse?" He asked, Lexi nodded with a small smile.

"I graduated before everyone else." Lexi said, Rick chuckled and nodded, he pulled out some chips and threw her a bag.

"Let's get going." Rick said, the walked outside and sat down for a little, Rick saw someone walking towards them and waved.

The last thing Lexi heard before everything went black was "Are you bit?!"
