(a long read but this explains why I love Super Junior)
Since childhood, I’ve been fond of listening to different kinds of music.
My addiction to music of other countries, started during my second year in high school, Anime was popular that time… my friends and I were so hooked on anime that we watched and sing to their OST’s… [I even have lyrics and translations of the OST’s of the different anime’s I’ve liked] then, we decided to learn the Japanese language… I’ve studied the language but failed, I was only able to learn their basic sentences.
Then, one time while I was watching MTV, there was a music video that I watched; it was entitled “Into the New World” by SNSD. I liked their music video, I’ve downloaded the video and watch it always, and I was amazed by Hyoyeon’s dance in the MV (I didn’t know her name at that time, I just thought she was Song Hye Kyo because they looked alike)… [I didn’t know about K-Pop at this time]
Then, Japanese Dramas became popular, [this happened during my 4th year in high school] ‘Gokusen’ was the first J-drama I’ve watched, I’ve liked ‘Jun Matsumoto’… then, I’ve started learning the language again and watched J-dramas like Gokusen 1,2,3, Hana Yori Dango, Hana Kimi and One Liters of Tears… I’ve tried to study their handwritings, but it was so hard… I just listened to their songs… [‘Arashi’ was the first J-pop group I’ve known, then, I stated liking Yui, Yuna Ito, Kana Nishino and Utada Hikaru’s songs]
Then, Taiwanese drama entered the scene, I’ve been a fan of Joe Chen, Ariel Lin, Alan Luo and Rainie Yang. I’ve downloaded their songs on the net and watched almost all of their series… [I’ve also watched different Taiwanese drama like ISWAK, They Kiss Again, Devil Beside Me, Sakurano, The Frog Prince, Fated to Love You & etc…] then, I started listening to mandarin songs…[I’ve learned about the group called ‘Fahrenheit’] then, I started to self-study on Mandarin language, in which I also failed… I was only able to learn up to Mandarin Greetings…
My cousin and I have been fond of watching Korean and Japanese horror films because it was very well made… it gives us the creeps while we are watching it… I’ve watched different Korean Horror films even if it makes me unable to sleep at night
Then, Koreans take over the Drama Scene in the Philippines, the first K-drama that I’ve watched was Full House… I really liked the song ‘May Tatlong Bear’… then, different K-dramas was shown on TV’s… I was not that addicted to K-drama until I’ve watched ‘Boys Over Flowers’… I really liked Kim Bum because of his innocent face. Then, I bought many K-drama series and started to watch it… [I have DVD’s of the series Fireworks, Witch Yoohee, Secret Garden, He’s Beautiful, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Cinderella Man, Cinderella Sisters, Perfect Match & many more]…
It was in the year 2009 (this was during my first year in college, second semester) when my classmate (Sarah Pauline) introduced me to a certain group called ‘Super Junior’… she even has a small poster of their group (the one which is free when you buy a MYX magazine)… I’ve looked at the poster and noticed that there were many members, actually I was amazed on how the group leader is able to manage such a large group, [many bands having such small numbers of members were disbanding, how can he manage a group of 13 people?]… Then I was able to watch Super Junior’s ‘Sorry Sorry’ music video on MYX, I was actually laughing at them because of the repetition of words in the song, I even said that “Yan, ang kanta na hindi pinag-isipan yung lyrics” (that’s the song in which the lyrics are not well thought of)… but even though I’m laughing at them, I still memorized their dance steps and dances when I hear the song playing…
‘It’s you’ by Super Junior was the first song that I really liked. Even though I can’t understand what they are saying, I just felt the meaning of the song… this was the time when Kyuhyun caught my eyes… it was in the chorus of It’s You and I noticed his very awkward dancing… then I heard his voice, and voila I fell in love with him…
