In the beginning, there was Genesis... the vessel.
Humanity has lived longer than what you would expect. We have been around to witness some of the universes' historical moments. We have acquired hundreds of planets to home, and we could still be acquiring more.
The Genesis project is the expedition; to find more planets throughout the unexplored spaces of the universe. Carrying one man and a woman inside Ether beds, where they may or may not sleep to their deaths, the Genesis constantly scans for life-sustaining planets, and it can continue to scan for 20 years until it runs out of juice. Without the power to wake them up, the people inside will die in their sleep by suffocation.
BUT! There's no need to fear, with it traveling 1/40th the speed of light, and the fact that the Genesis is more than capable to analyze and predict the location of a possible life-sustaining planet, the chances of failure is only 1 out of 20.
Genesis 16-2, the ship our first Earthly parents came in. Adam and Ever, chosen among many to lead our species on another planet for their genes. Perfect physically, mentally and emotionally--the best a human being can be.
