The Queen wasa patron of the Royal Ballet, and Prince was a patron of the Royal Opera House. before both passed on their patronages to Princess Adrienne earlier this month as the Princess is back as a full-time working senior member of the royal family.

The Costume Department is responsible for creating, refurbishing and maintaining thousands of opera and ballet costumes per season, with up to 600 costumes per production.

Up to 10,000 costumes are used each year by artists from the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera House.

Their Royal Highnesses visited the pattern room where they were shown the process of creating costumes for a new production with designers, including sourcing fabrics.

They visited the dye shop where staff showcased different techniques including dyeing, hand-painting, staining garments and digital printing which allows the team to reproduce historic fabrics no longer available.

The Princess and The Duchess met costumiers to discuss their work.

They also met Royal Ballet Principal Dancers Lauren Cuthbertson, Laura Morera and Vadim Muntagirov, who discussed how various factors such as lighting, interaction and movement influence the designs of their costumes.

Then they watched the dancers rehearse Frederick Ashton's (founder choreographer of the Royal Ballet) 'The Two Pigeons.'

Prince Philip Was Involved in a Car Accident Near Sandringham Yesterday

The Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a car accident yesterday near Sandringham, in which his vehicle, a Land Rover, overturned. He and the Queen are still in the area following the Christmas holiday.

Local radio station KLFM967 reportedly first broke the news of the crash, sharing photos in which the damage appears to be quite severe. According to the publication, the accident took place on the A149 and an ambulance was called for minor injuries.

Royal reported Victoria Arbiter posted about the accident on Twitter, "Breaking: Per Buckingham Palace the Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a car accident close to Sandringham today. I'm glad to say he was not injured. Local police attended the scene."

Reporter Rhiannon Mills also posted a direct quote from Buckingham Palace "The Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a road traffic accident with another vehicle this afternoon. The Duke was not injured. The accident took place close to the Sandringham Estate."

While the Duke was uninjured in the crash, and has been checked out by a doctor, the driver of the other car, a 28-year-old woman, suffered cuts as a result of the accident, and the passenger sustained a broken wrist. They were both taken the the hospital and have since been discharged. The Norfolk police confirmed today that a 9-month-old baby was also in the car and was uninjured.

The accident is currently under investigation.

"As is standard procedure with injury collisions, the incident will be investigated and any appropriate action taken," the police said in a statement, according to People. "We are aware of the public interest in this case, however, as with any other investigation it would be inappropriate to speculate on the causes of the collision until an investigation is carried out."

Prince Philip has not been seen at public events in several months. The Duke of Edinbugh, who is 97 and had a few health setbacks lately, reportedly "operates on a 'wake up and see how I feel' basis," according to The Telegraph.
