One morning, three years later, just before the sun rose, a mutant turtle with blue eyes looked about 12 years old ran onto the roof of the palace. His dark green skin made him hard to see, but his dark blue eyes stood out in the twilight. Looking around excitedly, Leo ran back inside. "Dad." Leo called, running to his parent's room. "Dad. Wake up dad. Come on we gotta go, come on." Bumping into some servants, Leo apologized before continuing on. Running into his parent's room, then to the side of their bed, he expected his father to be ready for him. But splinter was still sleeping. "Dad! wake up" Leo called. Splinter just snored. "Dad." leo said, annoyed, and began to call to his father over and over again. Tang Shen heard Leo speaking. Nudging her husband she said, "Your son is calling you." "Before the sun rises," Splinter replied, obviously tired "he's your son." "Dad," Leo whined. "Come on dad." He began to pull at his father hoping to get him out of bed. But he ended up losing his grip and stumbling backwards, landing on his rear. Finally fed up, Leo went back to the doorway, and took a running leap onto his father's chest Needless to say, Splinter woke up rather quickly. "You promised." Leo said, glaring. "Okay, okay." Splinter said, groaning at the pain in his chest and yawning. "I'm up, I'm up." "Yes!" Leo cheered and ran out of the room. Splinter and Leo went to the royal garden. Just as the sun rose, father and son arrived at the garden Splinter showed Leo a map of the kingdom. "You see Leonardo. All of the this is our kingdom. Everyone on this side of this red line, is our people, and it's the King's job to take care of them and protect them." He explained to Leo "Wow! But what is it on the other side of the line" he asked his father "It's the outlands. A dangerous place you can't go there, Leonardo" "But I thought a king can do whatever he wants" "Haha, a king must do more than he wants to do." He explained just then Donnie arrived "Good morning, sensei. Good morning, Leonardo" he said to them "Good morning, Donatello" "Checking in with the morning report." "Fire away" he told him Donnie began to tell the king and the prince what is happening in the kingdom, but Leo wasn't quickly got bored. So, he stared to train with his katanas that he got for his last birthday. Splinter turned and saw his son trading "What are you doing, son?" He asked him "Training" "Let me show you how to do. Stay low, to the ground..." Splinter told him as he showed Leo how to sneak up on Donnie "Okay, stay low to the ground got it" "Shh not a sound. Take it slow one more step. And then..." Leo attached the unsuspecting Donatello who was busy singing out the morning report just a second ago. "Ahhh!!!" Donnie yelled

Leo: This is the morning report,
gives you the long and the short.
Every grunt, roar and short. Not a
tail I distort, on the morning report."

"Grrri" Donnie growled as he got up and brushed off some of the dust off of him Splinter began to laugh but then April arrived when Splinter stared talk with Leo again. She looked worried Donnie turned around and saw April "What's wrong, my dear?" He asked laying his hand on her cheek and hugged her

"This is bad the guards just told me that foot ninjas has been in the city!" She explained "What?!" Donnie yelled but stayed calmed as well "Okay don't worry, April

"This is bad the guards just told me that foot ninjas has been in the city!" She explained "What?!" Donnie yelled but stayed calmed as well "Okay don't worry, April. Just go home and tell the other kunoichi's to be on their guard on the way. It's okay" April nodded and left "Your highness! Foot ninjas in the city" Donnie the king "What!!! Donatello take Leonardo back to the castle" splinter told Donatello as he was just about to leave and take care of the uninvited guest. "Aw dad, can't I come with you?" Leo asked "No!"  Splinter said as he left. "Come on now prince Leo. Your father have to take care of this, and it's too dangerous for you. Don't look so said, if you want, we can train later, this time I gonna defend myself." Donnie said trying to cheer Leo up "No thanks Donnie. *sign* It's fine. Later, on in the dad Leo went to the balcony where Shredder was hiding in the shadows "Hey, Uncle Shredder!" he said happily. "Leonardo! How nice to see you. How nice to see you. How was your morning lesson?" Leo sighed. "It was fine, dad told me about the kingdom. And about the Outland, but he said I couldn't go there" Leo explained "And he's absolutely right." Shredder said firmly. "It's far too dangerous. Only the bravest ninjas go there." Leo was upset that his own uncle didn't think he was brave. "Well, I'm brave." he said defiantly. "What's out there?" Shredder turned away. "No, I'm sorry, Leonardo, I just can't tell you." "Why not?" Leo whined. "Leonardo, Leonardo," Shredder tried to 'calm' his nephew. "I'm only looking out for the well- being of my favorite nephew." shredder rubbed Leo's head. Growling slightly and attempting to straighten off his head, Leo answered sarcastically, "Yeah right. I'm your only nephew." "All the more reason for me to be protective." Shredder said. "The old battle is no place for a young prince. Oops!" shredder covered his mouth. "An old battleground?" Leo gasped enthusiastically. "And in the middle of Japan what? Whoa." shredder palmed his forehead in 'dismay'. "Oh dear, I've said too much. Well, I suppose you'd have found sooner or later, you being SO clever and all. Oh, just do me one favor." shredder pulled his nephew to arm's length in front of him. "Promise me you'll never visit that dreadful place." Leo looked down in thought. Shredder used the millennium eye to look into his nephew's mind. He saw that Leo would find out a way to go the village. Just like he planned. Looking back up, Leo smiled. "No problem." "There's a good lad." shredder answered. "Now you run along now and have fun." Leo stared to leave. "And remember," Shredder spoke, Leo turning to look at him. "It's our little secret." Leo grinned at his uncle and ran out the door. Shredder smiled. Everything was going according to plan.
