[Moon] (You)
"MOON! GET YOUR ASS UP AND GET YOUR BABY BROTHER BEFORE I SELL HIS ASS ON EBAY!" My mother yells from downstairs slamming the front door shut. 'Off to another drug deal she goes..' I sigh to myself, getting up and walking downstairs.

My baby brother is 4 months old. He's in that cranky stage of baby-hood where all he does is cry, and after dad left, moms not having it.

I walk to his crib, which is placed in the corner of the living room, in this tiny place I call home. I pick him up and start to rock him back and forth.

"Shhhh... Come on buddy, I know you miss mommy, but she'll be back soon, she always comes back.." I say wiping his teary face.

I said that about dad too.. we all know how that went.

Dad left about a month after brother was born. He said "2 kids is just too much" and that he's "too young" to devote his life to a family. My guy is 37 and lives in his moms sushi restaurant. Who am I to judge though, he did raise me after all.

Mom on the other hand, shes just always had an eye for drugs. She's been addicted since she was 14 for christs sake! She uses all the money we have on her daily drug runs and that's why we always are in dept. I love my mom, but sometimes I just wish she'd at least put in a little effort to get her life together rather than beating me when I don't have money for her to get her 'special candy' with.

Placing brother in his stroller, we walk down to the park to meet up with his babysitter. I spot her and wave her over. She came speeding over.

"Hey!" She says with too much enthusiasm. "Hi. He's been a brat. Be nice. Don't kill him. Thanks." And with that I run to the train station to catch the train to the nearest super market.

I take a seat on a bench when a fancy looking guy with a briefcase walks over to me and sits beside me.

"Hello!" The man says with a smile. "Uhhh..hi?" I respond, clearly uncomfortable. "Would you like to play a game with me?" The man says setting his briefcase down. "If your trying to fuck I'd like you to know that I'm underage and lesbian!" I say  scooting further and further away from the guy. "No No No." the man chuckles as he opens his case. I look to see some big ass amounts of money and 2 ddakji game papers.  " I'm so confused.." I mumble as the guy leans back on the bench. He begins explaining the rules and what I get if I win(vise versus).

"Ok." I say agreeing to the challenge. Hopefully all those times playing with dad paid off.

I hesitantly picked up the red game paper and slammed it on the ground.

Missed. I look at the guy as he walks towards me a little. SLAP!

'Well damn..' I mumbled to myself rubbing my cheek.

After about what felt like 400 slaps. I started to lose hope. 'Come on Moon! Get it together. Think about how proud moms gonna be when you give her the money you got!!' And with that I slammed the paper down and BOOM! I did it... I smiled as the guy handed me my money. I grabbed my stuff ready to leave, since it was far too late to go to the market by now.

"Oh and wait!" The guy said catching me before I was about to walk away. I turned and faced with confusion on my face. He handed me a tan-ish card that had shapes on it. " if you wanna earn more money by playing games. Call this number. The apply date expires soon though, so don't wait too long!" He said. And with a blink of an eye he was on the train waving bye to me. I brushed it off and began my journey back home.

Walking through the door I smelt the smell of piss and weed. Moms home.

"Mommmmm!! Where are you?? I have something for you!" I say while slipping my shoes off.

I walk into the kitchen to see her doing lines on the counter.

"Seriously mom." as disappointing as this sounds. This isn't the first time this has happened.

"What kid.?" She says staring at me blankly. "I got you something" reaching into my pockets I grabbed the money and tossed it on the counter. My mom quickly grabbed it and held it to the light, not thinking it was real.

Staring at me wide-eyed she gently placed the money on the counter and engulfed me into a tight hug. "I knew you were good for something. I'm so proud of you!" She said smiling ear to ear.

So all I'm good for is getting money... I smile at my mom before turning around and heading upstairs. Right as I closed the door my smile dropped and I began to tear up.

'Why can't she be proud of me all the time..?'
'Why can't I get hugs from her on a daily..?'
'Was it something I did..?'
'Something I said...?'

Questions filled my head, wondering why I'm not good enough all the time.

I flopped on the shared bed between me and my mom, and stared at the ceiling.

'What if...I get more money, so I can give her money all the time, and so mom will be proud of me..all the time!' I thought as I came to a realization, that's not a bad Idea.

I remember the guy at the train station giving me a card. " if you wanna earn more money by playing games. Call this number. The apply date expires soon though, so don't wait too long!" He said. I whip out the card from my jacket pocket and begin dialing the number.

"If you would like to participate in the games, please state your name and birthdate." A robotic like voice said from the other line.

"Moon-Yun. January 12th, 2003"
