After dinner Pauline gestured for Milia to come outside with her. The two walked in silence towards that stone steps and Milia groaned at the memory of her and Timothee doing the exact same thing. Milia sat down first and let the singing Caracas calm her down again. She never noticed the natural loudness at night. She could hear all the insect and animals calling in the warm night and that made her smile slightly. Pauline sat down next to her and Milia realised just how much Timothee and her looked identical.

"You need to tell me what's going on." Milia stared at the girl and eyed her to try and figure out her intentions.

"Nothing." Milia shrugged. Pauline inhaled deeply and let out a deep sigh.

"Bullshit." Pauline laughed out. She turned her head and watched as Milia's wall's broke down and she looked vulnerable for the first time that week.

"I guess I just messed up a fair bit." Milia's head dropped sightly and she focused on the sound of the small waves crashing onto the shore.

"What are you going to do about it?" Milia turned her head and looked at the girl.

"Nothing" Milia let a small laugh escape but Pauline just looked at her.

"Okayy..." Pauline stretched out clearly disappointed by the answer. "So, what happened then."

"Um I guess everything was good, you know. I'll save some of the details but we were together then he read some stupid texts completely out of context from my ex, and then next minute he's confessing his love for me and I didn't know what to say and then he kicked me out of his room." Pauline stayed in complete silence trying to comprehend the string of events. "I said something stupid about him being there when no one else was but I was just overwhelmed and honestly shocked. I didn't expect him to tell me he loved me."

"Why not?" Milia looked at her in confusion. Pauline faced the girl and looked into her eyes to try and get the message across. "Milia I love you, but you're blind if you didn't see that coming." Milia blinked and stayed silent, somewhat ashamed at her actions. Deep down Milia knew she just didn't want to admit it. "I have watched him somehow fall more and more in love with you since we were like six, and I think deep down you knew that." Milia fiddled with the rings on her fingers too embarrassed to face her. "Do you love him at all."

"I think a part of me always has but lately Im struggling to even know what love really is anymore." Milia had kept these feelings to herself for so long that it somewhat was a relief to let them go.

"Because of Oliver?" Milia nodded her head slowly and Pauline could see the tears build up in her eyes.

"I let go of Timmy so long ago and thought I was gonna marry Oli and then...well, you know how that went." Pauline chuckled a little and a smile spread on Milia's face from her reaction.

"What were the texts that Tim read?" Milia exhaled loudly and rubbed her hands down her outstretched legs.

"I called him just to find out why, why he did it and everything and what was going to happen when I got back to New York. He started texting me after saying thank you for the call and then he went on about how he was sorry and still loved me. As fate would have it Timmy saw it and was really mad. He asked if I was just his rebound, which I don't think was fair of him to say because he was with me during the breakup and he was the one who was flirting with me first." Pauline laughed at her brothers antics.

"I think he just wanted you to love him as much as he loves you and probably, hopefully forget all about Oil." Milia hummed in agreement.

"I do love him like that, shit maybe even more than that. I was obsessed with him till we were 12 and then we stopped talking, I had to move on. But being with him now was different, it was more."

"Probably because you weren't horny pre-teens again" Milia laughed and slightly nudged Pauline in the shoulder. "Seriously Milia, I know you love him but he doesn't know that." Milia looked at the girl and smiled weakly.

"What happens if we screw it up?" Pauline let out a small chuckle.

"I don't know, but I know you two and I know that if it's mean't to be it'll be and no one can stand in between that." Milia smiled widely at her as she became overwhelmed with emotions. "But you at least need to try and tell him because he's probably sitting in a hole crying right now back home." Milia laughed and moved to hug Pauline. Their arms wrapped around each other and Pauline rubbed small circles against her back.

"I think I might need to go back to New York." Pauline slapped her hands against her thighs and swiftly stood up to her feet. She reached her hands out to Milia and pulled her off her butt.

"I'll book the plane ticket." The two smiled at each other and Milia started planning how she was going to tell him and what she was going to say.

Lily had been watching the two from her bedroom window concerned for her daughters fragile wellbeing. When she saw the smile on Milia's face as the two frantically strolled towards the house Lily knew everything was going to be okay. ゜゚・*
