I, Connor Franta am writing, not to please you, but to document my journey.
To look back in a couple of years and laugh.
"What is this "Journey"?" You may ask.
I have decided to start dating and to show you my experiences with love.
These are my personal stories through journal entries.
Please enjoy.
Date one:
"So you're the guy I've been chatting with?" I smiled. "Yes it is I." We weren't going anywhere fancy, it was just a nice dinner. He looked nice. Not too fancy, but just right. I on the other hand was stressing, I had no idea how to dress. It was my first date.
"Do I look okay?" I laughed nervously. "You look great Connor. Better then I imagined." He confessed. I couldn't do anything but laugh and blush. "Now that, that was flirting." I chuckled. He was cute, I have to admit that.
"Well isn't that what you do on a first date?" He smirked. I had doubt if he was just maybe a little too cocky or confident, whatever you want to call it, I just didn't have a great feeling.
"Connor party of two?" The hostess called out. I raised my hand and we walked over to her. "Right this way." She smiled and took us to a booth in the far right of the building.
"So Derrick, what do you like to do for fun?" I started out with a simple question that I think, everyone asks on a first date.
We had talked online for a couple of days before we decided to meet. I didn't know much of him, and honestly was a little scared, I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
"That question gets me everytime." He laughed. "I'm a writer so I guess you can say I like to write, its my passion." He smiled. I like that in a guy. "I like that. You love what you do, and do what you love." I smiled. "If I remember correctly, I think you said that in one of your videos on YouTube."
I had to tell him I was a YouTuber and that I have 4 million subscribers and I tell them a lot about my life. He had to be okay with that before we took this any further. My fans are my family. You tell your family everything.
"You know, I'm pretty sure I have. I've made so many videos that I don't even know anymore." I laughed. He giggled a bit. That was a little weird.
"I just want to let you know, this is my first date with a guy." I got quiet. "Connor its fine. Hey I have to go to the bathroom. I'll be back." He smiled and got up.
I waited patiently. The waitress came not too long later. "What would you like to drink?" "I'll take a sweet tea." I smiled and she walked off.
My eyes drifted around the little bar. I was always one to be a "people watcher" people just excite me, everyone has a story to tell and that story is unlike any other.
My eyes caught on to Derrick, he was sitting with a girl?
'Shake it off Connor, they're probably friends.' I told myself over and over again, but it just didn't add up.
I changed my stare as I saw him get up and start to walk this way. "Sorry about that." He smiled. It didn't look too genuine. "Is she a friend from high school?" I asked nicely. I think I approached that in the correct way. "Uh what?" I saw only fear in his eyes. "The girl you sat with?" I questioned him. Now I knew for sure he wasn't the right one. "Oh, her." He paused. "I'll just let you get back to your date." I smiled and walked off.
I knew from the moment that he spoke that something wasn't adding up. People arent that confident when you first meet them. It, was just weird.
I think its safe to say, date number one was a fail.
Once I got out of the little bar and out to my car, I got a text.
Unknown number: I'm sorry about that wretched player. You don't deserve that Connor. You'll find the right guy one day.
I was so confused and texted the number back.
Me: Who is this?
I got a reply almost immediately, like he saw me text back.
Unknown number: Your shadow.
I saved the number to "my shadow"
You may be asking "Connor why save that number? They don't sound too safe." Yeah well I'm curious as to who they are, what they have to say about me and each guy I date and why they are texting me.
Do I have an admirer?
