                                                                 Chapter 2

"Amber! Fa ju me kah!" I shouted pointing to the sick buffalo, fighting to stay standing. Amber flashed forward and a little guilt surged through me as I realized what I was doing, but I needed clothes. After my run-in with the chief I decided to hunt for some food to last through the night. There was a loud bark and some strange buffaloe noises before Amber was trotting back to me.

Why did the chief want me? What did he mean? I would never surrender to the enemy, I would die in my parents name before the Selan chief got me. Sure, I loved the Selan. They used to be my people, but that was long before my enemy. Now, most of the Selan were hunters. They would attack innocent people in the woods, stealing anything and everything they had with them. Now, I had to find a way to get the chief to surrender, because I am not an innocent killer, nor will I ever be. Not even in the case of the enemy.

The wind was swaying slightly with my mood and the grass tickled my bare legs when it swayed. The sun was setting, illuminating the sky with an arrangement of red to purple colors. I sighed and twirled some grass in my hand. Amber came up to me, nudging my hand and giving me a questioning look.

"Bo." I said, patting the dog's head softly. I jogged swiftly to the animal laying on the ground.

"Next time tear one of the legs off, because we don't use the skin there." I said motioning to the dead buffalo. I pulled out my knife and held it to the animal's skin.

Bark....Drip.....Bark....Drip.....Bark

"Amber! Shela!" I shouted, watching her chase a butterfly along the lakeshore. I laughed when it land on a tree. Amber was on her hind legs, paws up against the tree, barking. I saw the butterfly fly away, but Amber didn't notice, she was still  barking like a crazy dog."Amber!" I shouted again through laughs. I dipped my buffalo skin dress in the water once more, washing away the blood and excess. I had shaped it with one strap and it fit perfectly, stopping mid-thigh. It gave me enough room to move and hunt. I grab the belt also, walking over to the huge rocks on the shorline of the little pond, placing them on the rocks, in the sun, to dry.

Amber had stopped barking and trotted over to me, laying down in the sand and sighing in defeat. I giggled and pet her head before standing and walking over to the rocks next to the waterfall falling into the crystal blue pond."Hey Amber!" I shouted once I was at the top of the rocks."Watch this!" I shouted excitedly. I stepped up onto the highest rock and my heart leap to my throat. The pond look so far away, but I didn't care."Woohoo! Ayayayayaya!" I yelled pushing my feet forward, feeling the wind blowing through my hair. I brought my hands together above my head and my feet side by side against eachother in the diving pose. I landed in with a tiny splash and kicked my feet to swim to the surface.

Amber was barking happily, her tail wagging. I laughed and pushed water towards her. She growled playfully and get into her attack stance."Amber don't you dare!" I shouted swimming away slowly.Amber barked before leaping into the water near my, sending a wave of water towards me. I laughed hysterically, water filling my mouth, the laughing turn to coughing, then when I was ok, it turn to laughing again. Amber was barking at me, still in the water. I swam under water, hearing Amber's muffled barking. The cool water felt so good on my skin. I could live right here. I thought, closing my eyes.

The moment was broken when Amber's barking turned into growling, and not the playful kind. I kicked to the surface frantically and when I broke for air, Amber was swimming past me."Amber where are you going?" I turned in the water to find the source of Amber's wierd behaviour. The man I saw yesterday with his stick and bright clothing was standing in the tree line, looking at me with suprise.
