"Mom? Mom!"

"It's gonna be ok... it's gonna be ok."

"No!"

"Don't touch her!"

"Stop it! Stop it!"

"Wake up!"

"Mom I don't understand?"

"Wake up!"

"Why are you telling me this!?"

"Wake! Up!"

"Baby wake up! Honey are you ok?"

I jolt up in my bed and see my dad sitting there shaking me awake.

"Y-yeah dad I'm fine... just a bad dream." I say giving him a not so convincing look. He eyes me wearily but decides not to press the situation.

"Alright., if you say so." He pauses for a minute before giving me a small smile and continuing.

"Jarvis! Tell the others not to expect me at the meeting today, I'm taking my daughter to her birthday breakfast."

"Yes of course, Mr. Stark and happy birthday Reyna." Jarvis replied to my dads orders.

"Thank you Jarvis!... So dad, where are we going to find a place that is open for breakfast at 4 in the morning this time?" I ask him sarcastically.

My father rolls his eyes at me. "Don't worry. I have just the place."

Of course I already knew where we were gonna go. It's the same place every year. Patty Cakes. It was the same place where I got my first birthday cake and then every year after that.

It was my mom's favorite too.

Once we got there I ordered the same cake I always get. Lemon with raspberry icing and chocolate flakes. It doesn't seem like it would be good but I promise it is.

My dad and I sat down across from each other, in a corner table at the back of the shop.

"So, I got you something." I looked up slightly at my father with an eyebrow cocked.

"But I-"

"Yeah I know, you told me not to get you anything but I'm your father and I have all the money in the world to spend soooo"

"But Dad! I want you to spend money on your research and saving lives not on stupid presents for me." I complained.

"Which is exactly why I bought you this." He handed me a piece of paper with a look of excitement. I took the piece of paper and opened it carefully. I examined the piece of paper and my eyes grew wide.

"Oh. My. God!" I screamed and stood up from my chair.

The woman at the register looked at me as if I was crazy so I calmly sat down only to see my father looking at me trying not to laugh.

"Oh shut up." I said with a glare then started laughing with him.

"Dad? Are you sure? I mean this is your life's work."

"Yeah honey, I'm sure. Besides it's not like I'm handing over Stark Industries to you. I wouldn't want to put that much stress on your shoulders, I mean your only 17. You've got school and friends and other things to keep up with. I just want you to be able to take a roll in the company. You can run as much as you want behind the scenes and I'll be the face. I know you still don't want people to know you're a Stark."

I nod to him with an apologetic look and he responds with a look of understanding. Obviously I'm not embarrassed to be a Stark. Who would be? I just don't want to be treated differently because of it.

"I also made you head of the 'Foreign Matter Research Department' because I know you've been looking into that and so far you've helped the most with all of it. You will be working in the lab after school. Is that ok?"

"It's beyond ok dad! I'm so excited. Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I squealed and reached across the table to hug him.

"Oh! One more thing." He pulled out a box and handed it to me. I opened it and inside was a beautiful thin gold necklace with a daisy charm on the end.

"Your mother wore that everyday. Daisies were-"

"her favorite flower." I finished with small tears in my eyes. "Thank you dad. I love it."

I gestured for him to help me put the necklace on so he stood up from him chair and helped me with it. Just as he sat back down someone came over with the small cake and my dad cut into it.

My dad and I both took a bite at the same time.

"Mmm" we both hummed. I looked at him and started laughing and so did he.

"You know... this is probably the worst way to start your morning off." I said after taking my second bite.

"Hey!" My dad exclaimed "Just because you're 17 now does not mean you can judge morning cake!" And at that I busted out laughing.

"What?" My dad said struggling not to laugh himself. "I was being serious." And then he lost it too.

First chapter guys! I just wanted to let you know that most of this is from my own creativity but I did get some of the inspiration from @marvelsoul27 on tiktok. I really liked the story and I wanted to do something kind of similar so go watch all their videos and hopefully enjoy this story!
Edit: For anyone who has any interest in this story it is now 2024 and I actually know what I'm doing a little more. I am by no means a writer but I will do my best to make this as good as I can and I hope you enjoy. (I'm gonna go through and fix everything that's wrong with these first few chapters)
