Chapter 23 - Strings Attached

Honey: "I'll save you punks this once! But you owe me!!"

Ruka: "What was that? How did you break my dagger?"

You look up at Trois.

Jinx: "How did he?"

He smiled.

Trois: "Watch and see."

Honey: "Heh, as if I'd explain it to you."

He pulled back his arm and the two guards weapons flew out of the way. They both then flew up and butted heads, knocking each other out. Trois let go of my hand and pulled out his flamethrower, firing it at Ruka. As Honey raised his hand, Uno's braid and Jyugo's arm floated up.

Uno & Jyugo: "Huh?"

Honey clenched his fist, and they were both dragged towards us.

Uno: "Oww... hey, my poor cuticles can't take this kind of abuse."

Jyugo: "Felt like I got yanked up by some kind of invisible chain."

I ran and hugged them both, crying.

Jyugo: "We're alright, Jinx. It's alright."

Uno: "Heh, I thought I told you not to turn around."

Jinx: "It's a good thing I did! He was going to kill you..."

They separated themselves and smiled at me. Jyugo wiped my cheeks.

Jyugo: "Come on... no more tears."

Uno stroked my head.

Uno: "You were so brave. We're really proud of you."

The three of us turned back to Honey. Something small flew into his hand.

Honey: "Tch, you two should consider going on a diet after this. Damn it. Please don't make me waste any more of them."

Jyugo: "Now that I look closer, there's something tangled around my wrist."

We looked to see a very thin purple string connecting from the small thing in Honey's hand to Jyugo's wrist.

Uno: "Oh yeah? What is it? Some kind of wire?"

More of these weird wires appeared strung up around us.

Uno: "Wait, this stuff is all over the place! What is it?! You're not a spider, are you?"

Honey: "Stop poking at it!! You'll make it go dull!!"

Trois: "The bullets are single use though, right? So it's fine."

Jyugo: "Wait, bullets?"

Uno yoinked the small thing out of Honey's hand.

Uno: "Let me take a look at that."

Honey: "I said don't!!"

Uno: "I get it. You rigged the cartridge with a needle and then wove some wire into it. Then you throw it into a wall but keep the wire taught on your end, right? So these are what you use to bust out of prisons. You could even rig em up as traps so you can tell when the guards are coming. And if you pull, you can catch em."

Trois clapped.

Trois: "That's the secret. You can colour me impressed."

Jyugo: "Huh?"

Honey: "Damn it, Trois! He was only guessing! Why'd you have to tell him he was right?!"

Jinx: "Honey!"

He looked down at me.

Honey: "What now?"

I punched him in the gut.

Honey: "OOF-!"

Jinx: "That was for being a huge ass."

Honey: "Oh come on! I-"

I then wrapped my arms around him.

Jinx: "This is for saving them... thank you..."

Honey: "Uhm... d-don't mention it..."

I let go and smiled at him. Uno placed his hand on his shoulder.

Honey: "Hm?"

Uno: "That's a pretty impressive trick."

Honey smiled.

Uno: "IF YOU HAD SOMETHING THAT USEFULL THIS WHOLE TIME, YOU SHOULD HAVE USED IT EARLIER, YOU JERK!!"

Honey: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!! I'VE BEEN PREPPING THESE BULLETS FOR MONTHS SO I COULD GET OUT OF THIS PLACE AND YOU MADE ME WASTE THEM!!"

I giggled. Trois handed Jyugo a handkerchief to clean up his face.

Jyugo: "So you already knew, right?"

Trois: "I did. But once the enemy knows how Honey's bullets work, they're useless. So it's important to keep the element of surprise. *sigh* It's due to this that Honey refuses to bring them out except as a last resort. My bazooka, flamethrower and I always end up stuck with most of the work when we escape. He's as stingy as he is good looking, I'm afraid."

Honey: "Stop gossiping, Trois!!"
