October 1983.

Ziggy didn't love the idea of helping them, if the curse was repeating itself then she put herself in danger by welcoming them into the house, but for some reason the idea of not helping them made her feel guilty.

Reliving the story after five years was difficult, especially since it still hurt as much if not more than before.

"And Nick?" Deena asks.

"You believe me, right? About the curse?" she asked. "Yeah, of course, I'm different", he replied.

She closes her eyes, pushing away the memory and the feeling of betrayal.

"I thought he was different", she replies and her voice cracks a little, "I thought he would believe me".

"It's happening again", the memory of the note comes to her mind.

"But Nick had a destiny in this town" she continues "and you don't become Sheriff talking about ghost stories".

She feels a stabbing pain in her chest.

"I couldn't see him again, not after that", she confesses in a whisper.

The lump in her throat is already present.

"The witch... The town curse... For one night Cindy believed that there was a way to end it and so I thought there was too, but now I know... there's no end."

...

They went off to get the hand, leaving her to take care of Sam.

Ziggy didn't think there was any way to stop the curse, but they had nothing to lose by trying.

She paces back and forth, having an internal debate.

She remembers Deena's words before she left "I know you and the sheriff aren't on speaking terms, but if you think, even a little bit that he can help us, give him a call. We'll need all the help we can get."

But was she willing to trust Nick after what happened? After he betrayed her?

"It's happening again".

Ziggy bites her lip hard and walks to the phone and then dials the number.

"Union County Sheriff's Department", a woman's voice rings on the other side of the phone.

"I need to speak to Nick..." she interrupts herself, then corrects her words, "Sheriff Goode."

...

Nick drives to Sunnyvale, still analyzing what Mrs. Lane had told him.

He thinks about going to the cave located in the mall, but dismisses the idea. Whoever is there, Sarah or whatever it was, wasn't going to hang around waiting for someone to find it.

How come the builders didn't see anything strange?  Was it going to happen again or was it over for the moment?

He wasn't quite clear on what he was supposed to do.

"Sheriff, do you copy?" The radio of the patrol calls his attention.

He picks up the radio.

"Copy, what you got?" he asks.

"Someone called for you. Says it's an emergency" Nick frowns, confuse, "Says that you two used to be in a Judy Blume book club together. Is that a real thing, boss?"

Nick slows the car.

Ziggy...

He looks down and memories hit his mind.
