IT WAS the end of summer vacation and ayva couldn't be more tried about starting school, not only having homework and shit like that. but also not being able to do random stuff: like go to parties, chilling with fez (not that they did that as often as they used to) and talk shit about like everyone, hang out at the beach with cassie, being able to have a shopping spree with kat, hearing bb's random story's at all the sleepovers and not being able to talk to maddy on facetime as much as before.

and also ayva felt pretty scared about going back to school, she didn't really know why but something just didn't feel right at all.

maddy, who had been meticulously examining herself in the mirror, suddenly exclaimed, "you guys don't understand, we have to look fucking hot today!" ayva watched as maddy pulled her hands over her body, running them down her short red dress, as if to emphasize her point.

kat, who had been quiet until then, let out an exasperated sigh. "that's easy for you to say," she retorted, rolling her eyes. ayva couldn't help but notice the tension that had crept into the room. she knew that any little thing could cause the mood to shift, and she didn't want any drama to spoil their night.

thankfully, cassie jumped in with a solution. "i'm going to wear this skirt with this crop top. i need to look good in front of mckay," she said nonchalantly, preempting any potential disagreement between maddy and kat.

the tension dissipated, and the girls laughed, relieved that the potential for conflict had been defused. they all started planning their outfits, giving each other suggestions and advice on what would look best. after an hour of trying on different clothes and experimenting with different looks, they were finally ready to go.

as the girls piled into the car, ayva couldn't help but notice the stark contrast between lexi and the rest of them. while everyone else was giddy with excitement, lexi sat quietly in the driver's seat, her hands firmly gripped on the steering wheel. ayva knew that lexi didn't drink or do drugs, which was why she had offered to be the designated driver for the night.

lexi was different from the rest of them. she didn't care much for the party scene or the typical teenage rebellion. instead, she preferred to spend her time inside, reading books and imagining herself as the heroine of her own story. ayva couldn't help but admire lexi's ability to resist peer pressure and stay true to herself, even if it meant being different from the crowd.

but ayva also knew that lexi's choice wasn't always easy. her older sister had a different view of things and often criticized lexi for not being more like other teenagers. ayva thought that was ridiculous. lexi had her own life and her own way of doing things, and it wasn't fair for anyone to judge her for it.

the car was buzzing with excitement as cassie sat upfront with lexi, in the backseat, ayva, maddy, kat, and bb were laughing and chatting, eager to arrive at the party.
