"Oh, my! I thought you had left, dearie!"
"Fliqpy" smiled politely, "I just needed some fresh air. Had to do some recon though! There's a lot I haven't seen yet!"
The old woman flashed him a smile as he picked out some things. "Fliqpy" fiddled with the hem of his shirt as he looked between the kiwis and the apples. "He" prefered apples, but Fliqpy liked kiwis. He smiled and grabbed one apple and a few kiwis.
It's been a while since I got to come out anyways.
"I suggest you try the blueberries. They're always sweet and juicy." The woman said, smiling sweetly.
"Fliqpy nodded and grabbed a little bag to grab a few handfuls, "These do look really good. I'm glad I stayed to get some."
The old woman nodded, "Oby is a resident supplier and he only sells locally. These big corporates don't deserve his hard work!"
"Fliqpy" laughed at this and nodded, "Agreed. Local buying is much better than supporting corporate greed."
"Fliqpy" glanced up and saw the twins from earlier bringing in one last box. It looked like a crate of oranges. The one with the scarf came over and gently tapped on the old woman's shoulder.
"Th-that w-was the last bo-box!" He said, a sweet smile on his face.
"Fliqpy" smiled at his respectful attitude and watched the old woman brighten up because of it, "Well let me give you your pay. I'll even let you take some fruit back!"
He watched the old woman lead the scarf boy away, but noticed she completely neglected the other boy. He glanced over to see him watching his brother with a passive look, but he could see the disappointment in his eyes at being ignored. He didn't voice anything and waited patiently as the woman payed his brother for both of their labor and let him choose anything from the pile without offering him a thing.
... that's a little cruel isn't it?
However, his brother didn't seem to notice the favoritism the old woman was showing him as he went a grabbed a few things before going over to the other one.
"Oh! I never got to ask, but what's your name mister?" The old woman said as he gave her the last of his money to pay for the fruit and few vegetables he grabbed.
"Fliqpy" paused at this before smiling, "My name— er, it's Flippy. My name is Flippy Bear."
Clumsy might be mad about it later. But at least I can chalk it up to people mispronouncing his name.
"That's a lovely name." She cooed and waved over to the old man, who watched him with nervous and suspicious eyes. "My name is Patricia Hare and that's my husband Boomer Hare. Welcome to Happy Tree Friends Town. Have a few of these, on the house."
She piled some oranges into his bag and he smiled gratefully, "Thank you, ma'am. I really appreciate it."
He beemed at her with a warm smile, soft and dull, staring down at her with bright, forest-green eyes. Her face turned a little red as she waved at him.
"Yes, yes. Come back any time." Flippy tilted his head at her reaction as she turned to the twins, but continued to speak to the scarf boy. "Now you run along. Eat those tasty fruits and work hard at school today. No slacking, Lifty."
