Epiphany
A moment of sudden realization or insight
There will always be moments in our lives where one has epiphanies. For example, the sudden realization that Santa at the mall is just someone trying to make a paycheck and not wanting to hurl crying kids across the room. Or the tooth fairy really is a sleep deprived parent/guardian wondering when they'll get their money back keeping it 'safe' for you.
That's what epiphanies are, just sudden realizations, like a bump in the road you never knew was there until you've crossed it. There is no warning sign beforehand, no heads up, no instructions for before and after. One just has an epiphany and then it's gone.
And that's exactly what Atsumu had in the middle of the night watching an anime.
Truthfully he wasn't even paying attention. He was busy cackling over the voice memo Suna had just sent him. They both moved to different cities after graduating so they decided to make a promise to make time on the weekends to text/voice message each other for however long they can to catch each other up on everything the other's missed.
It was currently Suna's turn and they had just finished telling a story of how they accidentally outed themselves to their classmates on the first day of school.
"YER NOT EVEN HERE AND I STILL BLAME YOU MOTHER FUCKER" Suna groans over a voice message, "I can't believe when a girl told me what was my type I said 'neither like my gender' Not only did I come out to them as NON BINARY BUT AS AROMANTIC ASEXUAL TOO FUCK."
Atsumu snickers before recording a message over back, "Consider it as you tellin em interestin facts about yerself."
"THEY'RE NOT THE FUCKING TEACHER TSUMU. FUCKING HELL I HATE IT HERE. DID I TELL YOU WHAT THEY DID THE NEXT DAY? MY WHOLE DESK WAS FILLED WITH PRIDE STICKERS. THEY ALL WORE PRIDE SHIRTS TOO. This one bitch said, 'Congratulations on being our first forever virgin!' WHO FUCKING CELEBRATES THAT."
Atsumu lets out a loud wheeze before he starts choking on his own spit. "At least they're being accepting," Atsumu says while laughing.
"It's embarrassing still!" Atsumu hears shifting from Suna's side making him guess Suna is preparing themselves to fall asleep. "But I will tell ya the people here are a different breed."
"I thought ya had no romantic or sexual attraction toward anyone? Or am I wrong?"
Suna snorts, "Tsumu Tsumu. There's a difference between ordering and lookin at the menu. I know what's attractive. In this friendship I have all the taste."
" AND before ya even try to defend yerself. Exhibit A. That one popular girl our first year. Turns out it was a bet and she dumped ya after a week. Exhibit B. The one ya picked up at the mall. Didn't she scam ya around $1000? And finally Exhibit C. Hina. Enough said."
Atsumu groans, not even replying right away reminiscing of his recent ex-girlfriend. Hina. She was the class president. A dream might say. Good grades, could play the violin, was popular. She was even the one who asked Atsumu out. They were going out for a year and a half. It was a perfect relationship.
...Until it wasn't. That 'club' she had in the afternoon was really her meeting up with another member of the student council. Atsumu caught her in the act. Safe enough to say he brushed his teeth 10 times that night.
Before Atsumu has a chance to reply Suna sends him another voice message with a picture right after.
"Here is proof if ya don't believe me."
Looking at the images he notices they're wearing baseball jerseys. "Huh" he thinks amused, "Rin hasn't changed a bit."
The first thing his eyes land on are the two team managers beside the coach. "Cute" he thinks looking at a tall girl with blonde hair, while the other is sporting purple hair and has noticeable piercings.
His eyes then wander to each player, sizing them up (or trying to boost his own ego) before his eyes stop on someone in the back. He's looking at the camera with a scowl on his face clearly making it known he didn't want to be present when the picture was taken.
His face is flushed a bit red so it seems he had just finished practice before being ushered for the picture. His hair seems curly and unruly as some curls are sticking to his face while others are sticking up as he's got hit with lightning.
Unbeknownst to Atsumu he has a love struck grin on his face before he mumbles out "pretty."
He keeps staring at the photo for a total of ten minutes more before he realizes he's never answered Suna back. He clears his throat before he mumbles out, "They're alright. But ya couldn't have chosen another sport?" he spits out a tease trying to not make it known he's flustered.
But this is Suna. The only friend that has put up with his blunt words and bullshit all throughout highschool. This is the only person Atsumu had considered a friend. This is Suna knowing Atsumu is sick without Atsumu knowing himself.
So he curses but isn't really surprised when Suna responds in a teasing voice, "Which of the girls caught yer eye?"
Atsumu snorts and looks back at the picture before he freezes. The voice recording of Suna continues, "Both of them have a class next door" Suna says in a sing-song voice.
Atsumu pries his eyes away from the photo and stares at the anime playing in the background trying to slow down his breathing. After a few minutes he clears his throat and says, "Go back to sleep. I know how ya get around crowds so try to get there early to avoid the students pouring in."
He shuts off his phone not even bothering to wait for a response staring holes at the anime playing in front of him while his mind is going haywire about another thing.

epiphany
Storie d'AmoreSuna sends Atsumu a picture of a baseball team that sends his mind spiraling out of control. Who knew a scowl, unruly hair, flushed cheeks could be so problematic? The time that Atsumu had an epiphany of himself.
