Lindsay shrugs. She begins to speak, but Kim cuts her off.
KIM
After a screaming match about taking away my Gremlin, I ran out and drove off. Parents are such a drag, man.
Kim looks ahead, at Daniel Desario, Ken Miller, and Nick Andropolis. She glares at them. Kim and Lindsay walk past them. Lindsay kind of smiles at them.
Daniel closes his locker. Ken, Nick, and He stalk off.
NICK
You know what I heard, man? Kim took Lindsay and some guy—
DANIEL
John.
NICK
Yeah, John. Well they snuck off for a couple weeks and all they did was party. You know, smoke and follow that stupid band.
DANIEL
Grateful Dead.
NICK
Yeah.
Nick breathes out heavily.
NICK
And she judged me for liking Disco.
KEN
Man, disco sucks.
Nick looks offended. He stops Daniel and looks at him.
NICK
Daniel,—
DANIEL
Disco sucks.
They all walk past Sam Weir, Bill Haverchuck, and Neal Shweiber. Sam stands at his locker. Neal faces Bill.
NEAL
And then he hands her the torch and tells her to wave it at anything that slithers,
