IT HURTS!!!
Pain dominated his being as wave after wave of agony coursed through his every fibre.

What the hell had he been given?!?
Cultivators we're immune to most any poison, and even those that were effective were easily identified by superior senses...but this?
Daniel screamed again as he felt his body bloat some more. It seemed as though he was being filled up with some unknown energy, but what was it?!?
The pain made it so hard to think!!
He gasped, trying to steady his breathing enough to think...but that just seemed to exasperate whatever poison that was inside him.

AAARRRHHHH!!!
He screamed one last time before..his body simply exploded. Uncontainable energy blasted in all directions. The palace where the once number one genius called home, evaporated.

On a hill several kilometres away, he watched in satisfaction as his greatest rival disappeared.
The Divine Dragon Root had cost his family dearly.
He smirked as he turned away. It was worth it.

On a distant plane...

Arceus sighed  to himself as he gazed at his creation.
Humans and Pokémon living in harmony.
He snorted to himself. The idea was a grande one;  one that many humans and Pokémon believed in and fought for. But there were also many who had their so-called grander plans. Those humans from Teams such as Rocket, Flare, Galactic, Plasma, Magma, Aqua, and Skull. Those who believed that humans should rule over Pokémon, and over their fellow humans with the power of Pokémon.
He sighed again. He had made Pokémon originally to rule the land. They were fierce, powerful and did their jobs well. Too well in fact. As they grew stronger they began to fight one another. Territory was all important and over the millennia millions perished, whole species wiped out. Until he created the legendaries. He raised those few strong leaders who fought for peace to be his voice on the land, but it was too late by the time he acted. Too many had been lost. And even though he had raised the legendaries to power, they could not govern the whole world.
Arceus made humans to help maintain the balance. He gave them higher intelligence than those regular Pokémon and made the rules of battling in controlled environments to help regrow the Pokémon population that had been so close to extinction.
But there seemed to be an inherent problem with creating life forms with intelligence. Eventually they choose their own path, and now he can only look on as they deviate from his intended course.

Suddenly he felt a shift. A chosen one destined for keeping balance in the vast multiverse had passed. He focused his attention a bit and located the soul floating in limbo. Arceus glanced briefly at the man's past; and could only shake his head at the selfishness of humans yet again. A promising genius guardian, lost due to mere jealousy...he was about to send him to heaven when something caught his eye. It appeared that the form of cultivation he once practiced and the divine substance he was poisoned with was having a reaction. A very interesting reaction indeed.
And he had an idea... "young man, for you...the end is just a new beginning."
