lately, i haven't been talking to michael much, and i feel kind of bad

i laugh at another one of ashton's jokes about the cranky mom and her children from across the street. i'm interrupted by my phone buzzing, and ashton notices.

i look down at it.

smurf: help

from the corner of my eyes, i see ashton frown.

"would you rather hang out with him?" he says dejectedly, looking up at me as if he was a wounded puppy.

"no, no!" i shake my head, "of course not."

i look down at my phone again, "just- let me tell him i'm busy and i can't speak right now."

i turn my phone away so he can't see what i'm typing.

flower boy: meet me at the library in an hour. can't explain, but please be there

this is not how i was expecting for us to meet, but it's a start, right?

i look back up at ashton and force a smile on to my face, "done. he won't be bothering me any time soon."

ashton gives me one of those creepy smiles again, "good. now we can have some real fun."

the next thing i know, he pulls out a gun, and my heart stops.

"w-ashton what are you doing" i eye it carefully.

"relax" he giggles, "i'm not gonna hurt you. i would never hurt you, you're my best friend."

i stare at the gun, confused. "who's it for?"

he grins and flicks his eyes towards me, "oh lucas" he chuckles. "it's for michael. after all, if we want to be together forever, there can't be any distractions."
