Sanctuary

Hiya! Here is one of the first poems I wrote. Its a bit juvenile, but I think it sets a tone for the rest of the poems. I am happy to accept critiques!

Sanctuary 

I want to write about

What amazes me. Even the most

Painful things, for in hell

I can still say the brimstone is beautiful.

And more than this,

I want my words to sting, touch

Nerves and emotions we didn't

Know we have the capacity to feel.

I want lonely souls to

Read my poems, tattoo them on their

Body, and I want my words to make them a little less lonely,

Like I understand their sadness,

Because I do. I want

My writing to change lives,

To save lives, because they have saved mine.

I want people to be fascinated

With my mind, for no one has

Ever admired it like the words that

Lend themselves to me do,

Above all of this, I want my poems

To be there for people to recite

When the dark is unbearably long

And your thoughts are insufferable.

To add a small bit of peace and solace

To latch onto until it seems safe.

Until you can create your own sanctuary.
