Nightfall 1991

Chapter 1

„Good morning, students", says the Math-teacher after the lesson began, „I'm happy to see y'all again. I hope, you all had a good summer and that you're lusty and motivated for the new school year!"

He starts class. In class you see different kinds of senior-students. Some are motivated and perfectly prepared for the new school year others not. On the left side of the room sits a girl. Her name is Audra. She is one of the not motivated students, which are looking through the window, drawing things on their arms and notebooks or playing with their pencils.

„Mrs. Johnson! Can you answer this complex question, Since you're not paying attention in my class?!". Audra seems very lost and becomes red. Meanwhile the whole class looked at her. She stutters: „No, Mr. Williams. I'm sorry, It won't happen again.". Mr. Williams carry's on.

„Wow, what a good start", thought Audra and sunk in her black oversized hoodie. She's looking at her cousin Morrigan, who is also her only and best friend. Morrigan sits in the front row in class. She changed a lot during summer. She became skinnier and more fashionable. She's now one of the popular girls, like Enola. Enola is „the celebrity" at the school. She's rich, she's skinny and pretty. Everyone wants to be her, but she's bitchy. She's the blonde, popular, rich girl at the Highschool.

The school-bell rang. Audra packed her things and goes up to Morrigan. „Hey Morrigan, what's your next class?", she asks. „Hey Audra, I have English and then French, you?", she answers. „Spanish and then I have science, do-", Audra got cut off from Enola. „C'mon Morrigan. We don't have time! Let's move on. We have English now and Mr. Sage hates it when we come late!". Morrigan, Enola and the other girls left the room and Audra stands there for a couple of seconds.

It seems like Audra has to go alone through this school year. No friends and her only cousin has no time for her. Audra went to her locker to change her books and walks along the hallway to go to her Spanish class.

She enters the classroom and stared at the walls. Her Spanish teacher changed everything in this room. She hung posters of "LBGTQ+" and "black lives matter" on the walls. Audra was amazed. „She has done this because she came out as a lesbian and her girlfriend is black.", a guy interrupted her thoughts. She looked a brown-haired guy in the eyes. „Oh", was the only thing which Audra said. She stared back at the posters and said: „I didn't knew that, but It's nice that some teachers support that.", „Yeah, by the way , I'm Aster.", „Audra", she replied. „Nice to meet you Audra.". The teacher entered the room and started class.

„Hey Audra", shouted Aster while he ran to her, after class. „Hey Aster". He asked, If they are walking together to the next class, because his class was on the way. „So, do you wanna hang out after school?", he asked. „Uhm, sure-,...wait no sorry. I'm not free today. Uhh", „Oh, It's okay. So bye, here's my next class!", he replied to take one's leave. „Bye", she said quietly but with a little smile.

At lunch Audra had no idea where she should sit. She thought about eating lunch on the restroom or in in a dark corner in the hallway, but then someone called her name. It was Aston. He sat at the same table like two other guys and a girl. She smiled and sat down. „These are Eloise, Zeke and Khalid", Aster said friendly. They greeted her and Aster introduced Audra too. They ate lunch and talked about all the world and his wife.

After school, Audra went home. But she knew it will be getting worse...
