Running Shoes

Rebirth is such a common occurrence in my life
I'm constantly ready with my running shoes on and a new I.D.
New beginnings are etched into the pavement my feet bulldoze through
To the point that I don't know who I am when I stop
My heart is racing and I'm jogging to each room of the house
Because walking is too slow for me
The rumble of thunderstorms is more excitement I see in a week
Post thunderstorm yellow skies drags me to a stop
For a few seconds I take off my running shoes and sit in the light rain
Waiting for the sky's heavenly glow to sculpt my new identity
