Chapter 2

I wake up hungry. I looked at my phone that was sleeping on the pillow next to me. 3:23. This is as good as a time as ever for a snack. Or breakfast.

I slowly get up out of bed. I open my door to find that it was locked. Opps...

I get downstairs and pull out my favorite ceral, Cheerios, and I grab a bowl and spoon. I try to do all of these things quietly. I don't think that it worked. I hear someone stirring upstairs. I quietly crawl upstairs to see who it is. The noise is coming from Dad's room.

Dad keeps moving around in bed until he makes up his mind. He now has is arm over Russ, who is under the covers, his face in Dad's.

Suddenly I don't feel like Cheerios. I go back to bed.

"RACHEL!!!" Dad yells from downstairs. For the third time.

"What?!" I ask tiredly. I slowly get up and head downstairs.

"You are going to be late for school if you don't hurry up," my dad warned.

"Where's Jari?" I always get a ride from her. I can drive but since we go to the same place, we go together and since she is oldest, she automatically gets dibs.

"She left five minutes ago."

"Why didn't she wait for me!?" I exclaim.

"You're slow. And your door was locked. Now go get ready! Since you can't take the truck... you will have to take the mustang," Dad says gloomily. My dad LOVES the mustang.

"Take good care of it!" Dad calls after me as I run into my room.

"I will!" I yell and examine my clothes. Since I am going to be in the mustang, I should dress better than usual.

I pick out a jean mini short. A really mini jean short. And a red shirt that stoops dangerously low but stays in place. I put on some makeup and style my wavy hair around my shoulders. I look good.

I put on my bangles and necklaces. I am done in five minutes.

"Bye Dad!" I yell as I exit the house.

"Don't forget Russ!" Dad yells.

"Bye Russ," I say just loud enough for Dad to hear. Even though dad made me say goodbye to Russ, nothing was going to dampen my mood. I was going to school in style.

Russ barks/growls in reply.
