When Worlds Collide

I didn't sleep much last night, instead I spend time contacting my team and putting together a plan. Everyone had started out sitting together in the meeting room but one by one they all turned in for the night to get some sleep. Eventually it was just me and Bucky who sat with his head on the table across from me, snoring. I moved to my room to avoid waking him up from all my phone calls.

Everyone from my team was able to come in and we were all meeting at the tower near 6am. I ran over different plans in my mind thinking over anything and everything. Or so I thought....

There were three places that Sarah had frequented in the last few months, one of those had to have some significance to the Rising Order. Around 4 I change into my gear. It wasn't anything crazy, SHIELD had created a protective suit for me. It was a deep purple and black and covered most of my body, with padding in the spaces needed. I slipped on a pair of combat boots and put my hair in braids.

I was ready to go. I needed to go. I had to get this out of my system. Restlessness could be dangerous on the field. I slip out of my room and down to the gym. I pick up a gun from its storage area and put on a pair of headphones. I take a deep breath and click off the safety. I raise the gun and align it with the target that was about 40 feet away. I pull the trigger and watched the bullets as they ripped through the paper. It might concern some people that the way I relaxed was by shooting guns, but to me this was all normal.

I stayed there until quarter to 6. At that point I cleaned everything up and swiftly went upstairs into the common area. Most of the Avengers had gathered there, but none of my guys. I pull out my phone and see several missed calls and texts from Jordan.

<-                    Jordan.
5:30: Security won't let us in the tower. Help.
5:35: Alex just got here. Where are you?
5:40: I'm going to kill Alex.
5:41: He's talking about his high school football trophy again. Help. Me. Please.

I let out a snort as I hopped in the elevator and started toward the lobby. When I finally got there Liam was arguing with one of the security guards and Jordan looked like he was about to scream at Alex.

"Jordan!" I called out.

Jordan turned to me and let out a sigh of relief. "Finally!" He exclaimed.

I nodded to the security guard. "They're with me."

The man rolled his eyes and let the group of 5 or 6 pass through. My team consisted of Jordan, Alex, Liam, Noah, and Allison. Other than Jules these guys were my closest friends. We walked to the elevator and Noah shoved me.

"Living in Stark tower. Lucky you" He laughed.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "It's more like Fury has them babysitting me."

They all laughed at that. "At least they're all hot..." Allison added in. Alex agreed.

"Who's got your eye?" Jordan questioned.

"Yea Ally. Tony, Steve, Thor..." Noah chimed in.

No response.

"Natasha?" I slyly asked.

Ally raised an eyebrow and shrugged. "Perhaps."

I shoved her. "oooooo someones got a crush."

She rolled her eyes.

The elevator dinged and the doors opened. The two teams had never formally met so this would be fun. I stepped out and they followed close behind. By this point it was 6 so we were leaving soon.

"Ok, so Noah, Alex, Jordan, Allison, and Liam. And-" I started.

"I'm sure they know all us of" Stark interrupts confidently.

"Actually... no. Who are you?" Jordan remarks sarcastically.

I can't help but snort and I catch some other laughs from around me. "Ok well lets get going." I clap my hands together.

Stark nods and everyone follows him to the landing pad where a good size jet sat, engines ablaze. We all board and I program the first destination into the jet. We all sit in silence as the jet takes off. The silence lasted well after we took off though. This was getting awkward.

"Ok well the first place we're going is in Indiana so it shouldn't take long to get there." I say, trying to break the silence.

I hated silence. I grew up separated from most normal kids and I had no siblings. It was always silent growing up. Although I loved my "parents "I couldn't help but wonder why I couldn't have a sibling or someone other than them to hang out with.

Despite my attempt to get people talking, it still remained silent. I glanced around and everyone was giving each other looks.

"Ok lets not make this a thing." I said, standing up. " When we get there, depending on what the building looks like, we will enter and look around for anything useful. If you see any civilians, first order of business is getting them out. Anyone that is looking to fight, take them down as gently as you can. We don't want any blood on our hands and we could get information from them." I direct.

"And if-" Bucky starts.

I stick my finger up before we can continue. I hear Jordan snicker from beside me. Bucky shoots him a glare that shuts him up though.

"No ifs Barnes. Civilians are our number one priority. Nothing else matters until they're safe. That's my only rule. I know that may not be the Avengers way of doing things, but if we're working together, then get used to it."

Steve looks offended by that but I wasn't wrong was I? I mean look at the battle of New York, Sokovia, literally anywhere else they had fought. Casualties were at an all time high. The only time a civilian died on my watch was when my team was on a mission in Russia. I vowed to never let it happen again. And it didn't. Not until today.
