Chapter 20: The Test

I had to take a map with me to figure out where to go but I eventually found the prison. I entered and requested to see Polpo 

They showed me the way but when I tried to pass through I was told to place my belongings into a tray. I noticed that a few of the guards were holding guns

I did as the guard's asked, placing everything in my pockets onto the tray and moved to the next area

"Stand right over there and raise your hands over your head." The guard told me, I did as she asked and she started patting me down "Once you go through that gate, please continue straight down the hall. N-28 is where Polpo's cell is. The room is divided with reinforced glass, but you'll be able to talk to him. Touching the glass, giving him anything and receiving anything from him are all forbidden. You have 15 minutes."

She stopped patting me down and a door opened and she continued to speak

"Once you pass through, the gate will close. If something happens, please yell."

I walked down the hallway and passed a door. It shut just as I passed through. The room glowed with an eerie green light. A light in front of me shone bright and I had to cover my eyes for a few seconds for them to adjust

It was a neat looking cell with a large looking bed in the centre of it. I was confused because I couldn't see Polpo anywhere. Was he in the bed?

The bed shifted around but then appeared a behemoth of a person. Polpo is the bed

"You are the one Tonio told me of, correct? The one who came from Morioh?" Polpo asked me with a distortion in his voice

"Uh. Yes, sir."

"My, my. There is no need to look so intimidated. I'm sure the guard told you that there is reinforced glass preventing me from leaving."

"Yeah, she did."

Polpo reached behind him and pulled the handle of a little door and pulled out a glass and a bottle

"Would you like some wine? I have some exquisite Chianti Classico. It pairs perfectly with some Scamorza cheese and caviar on a cracker."

"No thanks, I'm still 16."

"I see you like to follow those small rules that society has placed to prevent the smallest of occurrences. That's good, it means you know your place."

He pulled out a remote, pressed a button and a small part of the wall opened to show that he was storing food, guns and all sorts of items that nobody would be allowed in a cell

"Anyway, Tonio has told me all about you. You're a loose cannon who isn't afraid of spilling blood, whether it's yours or someone else's. He also told me that you're already a Stand user, which will definitely help with you joining Passione."

It took me this long to realise that this was no ordinary organization. This was a mafia. I should have been scared, hell, even a little angry. But I'm not. I'm excited

"Tonio told you all of that?"

"Well, he did tell me the abilities, how you can turn it into any gun that you can think of, how it can increase your physical power, how you can teleport anywhere and that it can also prevent any Stand attack. With abilities like those, you could end up in L' Unità speciale with proven loyalty to the boss. But for now, we have decided that you would end up in a team that is befitting of your skills. Risotto! You can show yourself now."
