Archie patted him on the back. "We're doing our best, Marcus. It's way more than what we would have achieved working under the chief."

"The chief!" Marcus exclaimed. "He would know where Alexander is,"

"What's going on?" Josie asked.

As Marcus began to explain, they didn't notice that his phone was vibrating on the coffee table. Josie agreed that their chief definitely knows something.

"I think we should split up. I'll go with Nate to the research facility and you two can try to question the chief about his whereabouts."

"Sounds good. First thing tomorrow?" Marcus looked at everyone to get their confirmation.

Nathan nodded and turned around to his laptop to get the address when something strange caught his attention.

Marcus looked for his phone to tell Amira the plan when he saw that she had called him five times. Before he could redial, Nathan's panicked voice got his attention.

"We've got to leave, now!" he said after shutting down the laptop. "Let's move!" He grabbed Josie's arm and went towards the door.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. What's the problem?" Archie asked them.

Marcus decided to call Amira while Archie tried to find out where the fire was. Immediately, Amira answered; her voice panicked and rushed just like Nathan's. "Marcus, get out now! There's a—"

"—bomb!" Nathan and Amira said at the same time.

Marcus and Archie looked at each other before running towards Kai's room.

PJ drove as fast as he could towards the apartment. Amira insisted that they go after Marcus didn't answer the first time. Her foot bounced up and down as her nerves were a wreck. She wasn't sure if the sniper was telling the truth but she didn't want to risk it. PJ's club could also be a potential target so PJ left his men to watch the perimeter in case someone tried to plant a bomb close by.

"They'll be fine," he tried to reassure her.

"That's my only hope. I promised to help with the investigation but now it's way too dangerous. What if something happened to Kai? I can't even think about it. I have to bring him home."

"So, you're just going to run away after poking the bear?"

"What?"

"Yeah, you came here to find the person behind this. Now that we're so close you want to run away because it's dangerous. What did you think was going to happen?"

She was quiet after that. PJ made her angry but he also made her really think. What did she really expect to happen? Amira wasn't sure what the outcome would have been but she never expected this...

"I don't know what I expected," she softly said, "but I just want it to be over,"

"So does everyone else. Hang in there, Amira. We'll make it,"

She really wanted to believe that but she couldn't think about anything else since the apartment building came into view. PJ parked the car and they decided to go the rest of the way on foot just incase...

A smile came to her face when she saw everyone emerge from the front of the building. She ran towards them and gave Kai a hug upon impact. She was so glad they made it out that she couldn't contain her happiness.

"Hurry up!" PJ called after them before opening the car door. Once they were closer to the car, the sound of an explosion made everyone duck. Looking up, PJ's penthouse had exploded while what's left was on fire.
