Although you're ready to defend yourself, he didn't let you speak.

"Y/N, you neither have to worry about the Rite of Descension nor doubting my plan. Everything will be fine, Childe and I have a contract. You don't need to trust him. However, if you must know, he's our ally, at least for now."

"Now, that's another lead to another secrets you've been hiding from me."

This is why, talking with Zhongli never solved anything, it just keep leading you acknowledging that he has more secrets than you've imagined. Thus, you didn't want to ask anything related to the contract as Zhongli probably would tell you that the contract is meant to be kept low-key and hidden between two parties.

"Still, I don't approve this, it's too dangerous. Yeah I know you're strong at all, but the Tsaritsa has a whole army out there--"

"I didn't ask for your permission," Zhongli cut off your sentence.

"This plan shall be done sooner or later, you'll understand why later on."

"Also, you might want to clean your bed first before resting there, kid."

And with that, the conversation ended one-sidedly as Zhongli walked away from you. You truly never did understand Zhongli himself from the start, after running away from his responsibilities like that, he would just come out of nowhere? What kind of joke is that?! Not to mention, there are too many possible dangerous outcomes.

Furthermore, Childe would never turned his back to the Tsaritsa. By a mere glance, anyone could possibly tell that Childe is a loyal subordinate to the Tsaritsa. So what does Zhongli means by Childe is our ally?

Most importantly, why did he ask you to clean your bed? You're pretty sure you cleaned your room before you left to Mondstadt. How weird.

Unconciously, you walked to the kitchen, drowning in your own thoughts. When you're aware of what's surrounding you, you already arrived at kitchen, both hungry and looking for the man who just placed a mark on your skin. Instead of food, you found a bottle of vodka on the dining table.

"Hey, girlie. Are you here to eat?" You turned around to find the source of the sound.

"No, I'm here to punch the man who just--"

Your words stopped when you heard your stomach growled out of the blue without consent.

"Ahem." You coughed trying to hide your embarrassment.

Childe laughed happily. "So you are here for the food, huh?"

It was that moment in time when you wished the earth would open up and swallow you. The anxiety and discomfort which felt may only last a few seconds feels like time has stood still.

"Ugh, there's no point to lie now, isn't it?" You took a seat on a chair.

"Don't worry, I prepared this for you. It's one of my favorite food, I called it as a prize catch." He put the dish at the table as he seated himself in front of you.

Of course, you had your suspicion towards him and the food he made, but for now, aside from all of that, you're hungry. So there's nothing to stop you from eating the food.

"How is it?" He asked.

"Suprisingly good..." The dish tasted like an usual seafood you'd order in Wanmin Restaurant, except it was a bit spicier than this.

Childe pridely grinned at the compliment. "Back in Snezhnaya, I often cooked for my younger brothers and sister."

You nodded as a response. "No wonder. But why is there a vodka though?"
