"Hey Tro!" Connor smiled to the new boy as they met up in the middle of the school. They had only known each other for less than a week, but they were pretty close already and had nicknames for each other - Troye's was "Tro" or "Troyeboy" and Connor's was "Con".

"Hey Con" the Australian smiled back.

"Ready to watch some extreme talent?!" Connor joked, nudging Troye as they walked to the swimming pool.

"Oh, you wish," Troye joked back.

"Do you want me to introduce you to anyone?" Connor started, "Like I said, I could probably hook you up with someone on the swim team. A few of the guys, including some of my close friends are gay and I could totally see you with Kian" *I don't think Kian's gay, but it's for the purpose of the story haha*

"I'd like to meet the other guys, but I'm not really looking for a relationship right now," Troye replied, his tone suddenly changing from lighthearted to sad.

"Oh, I know the feeling. Tyler's constantly trying to hook me up with different girls but I don't know, I haven't met the right girl yet," Connor replied. That's what he was hoping, atleast, since any time he'd dated or kissed girls before, he felt nothing. But that was just because he hadn't met the right person yet, right?! Not that he was gay, because he was definitely not gay.

"Yeah. I just, umm, had a really bad break up and you know, it just puts you off the whole idea for a while. Infact, I'm not sure I'll ever want to love again after what he did." Troye confessed, looking down at the ground as tears welled up in his eyes.

Seconds went by, neither of the boys knowing what to say. Troye began to apologise for making it awkward, for saying too much, when was cut off as he felt Connor's muscles wrap around his slight frame. Connor was just as surprised as Troye at his own actions, since he wasn't the most spontaneous person and was usually very reserved, but Troye was upset and that was what friends were supposed to do, right?! Friends weren't supposed to get butterflies in their stomachs at such a friendly action, Connor reminded himself, but he put it down to nerves as the new swim season began again.

"It's okay, you haven't said too much," he whispered in Troye's ear as he pulled away from the hug and they began to walk again. A strange part of Connor wished they had hugged for longer, but they were in the middle of the corridor with plenty of people around them, and he didn't want people to get the wrong idea. And there was also the fact that he definitely wasn't gay, and friendly hugs weren't supposed to last that long, which his subconcious constantly reminded himself of.

The two boys continued to walk towards the entrance of the pool, both silent as they were lost in their own worlds, when suddenly Connor stopped to talk to Troye.

"Before I introduce you to the guys on the team, I have to warn you that they're kind of crazy but-" he was cut off as a tall, skinny boy with bright blonde hair interrupted him as he walked past.

"But you'll love us really," he winked before introducing himself, "I'm Kian, and you are...?"

"Troye," the new boy smiled.

"So are you on the team or what?!" Kian asked him as the three walked into the pool.

"God no. Me do sport? Not a chance. Connor's my partner on some Science project and since today's practice is only short, I said I'd wait and then we'd go do it," he replied.

"Ohhh. Sure you don't want to swim?!" Kian asked.

"I'm 100% cool watching, thanks," Troye laughed. Soon he was introduced to all the team, who he noted were all pretty similar to Connor - friendly and generally just nice, average guys. He followed them into the changing rooms, feeling like a 7th wheel and extremely lost at what to do, so he did the thing he knew best - going on his phone.

As he sat on a nearby bench, he couldn't help but look up at the boys changing into their trunks. And not because he was a pedophile, but because of the extreme amount of noise they were making as they messed around. It just happened to be convenient that they were all shirtless, and all somewhat toned.

Who really stood out to Troye, though, was Connor. He knew the boy's arms would be muscly, since he'd seen them before - but his stomach was something else. As he glanced up and down at Connor's stomach, he couldn't draw his eyes away from the chiseled, toned abs that he didn't even know were possible to attain from swimming. He was lost in his own little ab heaven, when suddenly, the worst of the worst happened: Connor looked at him and they made eye contact.

'Shit shit shit shit shit' Troye thought to himself. He had practically just checked out his straight, shirtless friend whilst in a room of boys. He quickly averted his eyes, but his cheeks turned a deep shade of red as part of him knew it was too late. He knew being gay was accepted here, but that didn't stop the awkwardness that he presumed would follow. To his surprise, Connor took a slightly different approach to the one Troye expected.

"Checking me out, huh, Troyeboy?" Connor laughed, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. Troye laughed back as the attention was drawn to him, but his face went even redder than before, as if that was even possible.

"Like what you see?!" Connor teased again, and now Troye's cheeks felt as if they were on fire. "Haha, it's okay, so do most people," the American finally winked. Finally Troye thought of a somewhat clever response as he quipped back,

"Hmmm, you wish Franta," and went back to staring at his phone, clearly still embarrassed.                 The American boy, however, couldn't help but feel a little satisfied at the reaction he had gotten out of Troye. He didn't know where the flirty side of him came from, especially with a boy, but he put it down to his casual daily flirting with Tyler and felt strangely proud at his reaction. His subconcious kept telling him that he wasn't gay and that it didn't matter what Troye thought, but the butterflies in his stomach told him otherwise as he walked out of the changing rooms and into the pool area.
