Carlos had his suitcase in hand as he walked to the front door of the Dubois household. Martin had been able to tell him that Sara was currently still residing there. He rang the doorbell and waited patiently. Melissa opened the front door and smiled when she saw Carlos.

"It's so sweet of you to come over. Sara is still so off her doing because of it all. It breaks my heart to see her like this."

"I know." Carlos sighed. "Mine too." Melissa smiled thankfully at Carlos and let him in.

"She is in the garden. The swing bench has become her place to sit." Carlos thanked Melissa and left his suitcase in the hallway before walking to the garden. What he saw there took his breath. There she was, looking her absolute worst with dark bags under her eyes, her hair messy and her skin pale. And most of all, in Noah's arms.

Carlos was very well informed about the fact that Noah's ex had cheated on him and he was single again but it was a low blow of him to suck up to Sara again in her current state. How often had he been there in the days Carlos had had no opportunity to leave England? How often had he been the one to hold her tight while he – Carlos – was her boyfriend and Noah very much her ex?

"Carlos." Carlos got dragged out of his thoughts by Noah, who was very much surprised to see the Spaniard in the Dubois garden. Sara locked eyes with Carlos and remained standing where she was. Right beside Noah.

"Hey, Sara." Carlos ignored Noah purposefully. He didn't know what the guy was trying to do, but he was standing too close to his girlfriend. He walked up to her and cupped her cheeks before kissing her forehead and hugging her.

Noah remained there, standing there awkwardly.

"I think it is a good time for me to go home." Sara set a step back and nodded. "I will text you." Noah kissed her cheek and left. Carlos clenched his chin as he watched Noah leave.

"What was he doing here?" Sara took a deep breath.

"He was here for me. He has been checking up with me to see how I was doing." She forced a smile. "I'm happy you are here." She kissed him and rested her head against his chest. "Thank you for coming."

"Sweethearts, dinner is ready," Melissa called from the house. The couple walked into the house, both in their own thoughts. "Carlos, I hope you like beans, because we are eating vegetarian wraps with beans."

"Of course." They sat down at the table together with Vincent and Melissa. The awkward silence between the couple remained and this time dragged Sara's parents into it as well.

"I didn't know Noah was here?" Melissa asked. If she would have known, she would have updated Carlos on it. "When did he get here?"

"You were doing the groceries, we just talked." Carlos frowned, unlike Pierre had said, she had apparently needed someone to talk to and it hurt that it wasn't him. In fact, it was her ex-husband. "It has been nice to see him more often. We've barely spoken after the divorce."

"And that was for a reason, darling. You needed space to get used to your lives apart."

"And we did. We are both doing very fine without each other, but it has been nice catching up."

"I could have told you everything he did. Ilona is very good at keeping me up to date with everything that happens in his life. You didn't need to see him for it."

"What the hell is wrong with you mom?! I needed him, he was there. It's as simple as that." Sara stood up from the table. "Excuse me, I am not hungry." She stormed away and Carlos looked at Melissa.

"Go."

"Sara." Sara continues rushing up the stairs, not stopping at Carlos' cry. "Sara, please stop."
