Expecting Ted to be annoyed that she had talked so much, she stayed silent, and looked down at her feet.
"Please, go on!" he said excitedly. "I wanna know about them all!"
Eden was shocked, but tried to hide it.
She had never had anyone enjoy her talking.
"Well, um, Gryffindors are brave, and wear their hearts on their sleeves. Slytherins share a lot of Ravenclaw characteristics. They're ambitious, strategic, and smart. They normally always have a plan."
Ted nodded along, waiting until she was finished to speak.
"Honestly, all of them sound really good. I think I'd be happy with whatever that hat gave me," he laughed.
"I agree," she lied.
They had reached the castle entrance, and the huge doors were swung open.
Inside was magnificent.
There were lanterns and candles, which lit up the whole room.
There were paintings all around, which moved across the walls.
And there were so many stairs. They moved around, and shifted in different directions.
They both were definitely going to get lost on those.
"Woah," was all Ted could get out.
"Agreed," Eden said, thinking that if she tried to say something else, she'd end up screaming.
The large doors in front of them opened, and in walked a tall, and thin woman. She had a strict face, but Eden could tell that she had a very beautiful smile, even if she didn't use it often.
"Hello students. I am Professor McGonagall. I am the head of the Gryffindor house, and I teach transfiguration. In a few moments, you will walk into the Great Hall, and will be sorted into your houses. Your houses will be your family. You will eat with them, sleep with them, and have lessons with them. You can gain house points for your house, and lose them, so be wise."
So this is who James called Minnie Eden thought. I'm sure she loved that.
Eden found herself spacing out again, and ignored the rest of the speech. She ended up staring at the paintings that lined the walls.
She was particularly drawn to one of a landscape. It was very simple compared to the others, which were all of women and men splashed in gorgeous clothes, with extravagant backgrounds.
But the landscape was simple. It was nature. It was real.
"I'm so nervous," Ted whispered, interrupting her thoughts.
"Same," she whispered back, even though she didn't know what he was talking about.
The students all began to walk forwards, and the doors opened with a loud freak.
Eden held back a gasp.
They entered a huge room, with four tables that were faced vertically from the door. There was one table at the end of the room, where Eden saw teachers sitting.
She scanned the tables, looking for James, and finding him at the table in the corner. She gave a small wave to him, and he excitedly stood up and waved his arms at her.
Eden buried her face in Teds shoulder, embarrassed.
"Is that your brother," he laughed.
She gave a muffled grumble, and he continued to laugh.
