Nothing could have prepared me for what I had to do next

Four men barged into the financial institution. Their garments were completely black and they were armed. "Everyone get down! All of you, down to the ground, now!" Panicked, everyone followed their instructions immediately. I had a feeling that this situation would end detrimentally. Two men stayed at the doors to prevent anyone from escaping and the other gunman was threatening the bank manager, ordering him to lead him to the safe and hand over all of the money. The fourth criminal was not in sight. Everyone lay - petrified and worried. I was so scared and what startled me even more was when the fourth gunman approached me and stood on my left. "Hello, Jane. I'm glad I bumped into you! What a surprise!" said the familiar, sarcastic, malicious voice of my father.

I looked up in shock, horror and confusion. My dad smirked. I stood up fearlessly and protested angrily. All the 'how-what-who-why-when-where' questions in my mind gashed out in exasperation. My finger pointed up at him and moved up and down at every syllable. He held his hands up and slowly walked backwards. As I lashed my hand towards his face, he grabbed my slender wrists. "Darling, calm down," he said casually, looking directly into my blue eyes. I glared at him. I knew I didn't stand a chance against the taller, muscular man. He let go of my wrist where my fair skin had a red mark from my father's strong grasp. "Why are you doing this?" I asked as my eyes welled up with tears. He stroked my chestnut hair and whispered wickedly into my ear:

"I am doing this because of your uncle Mac."

My heart stopped.
