Okay, I'm gonna be frank. If you came here to read Larry fluff, (a very fair reason to open a Larry fic) this isn't the place for you. This isn't even a romance book, or at least it isn't the main topic.
Now that's out of the way: Not a single bit of this story is my original idea. This is mercilessly stolen from the amazing film, 'The Talented Mr. Ripley'. It's my favorite film, it's just– it's brilliant, okay. The plot, the acting, the screenplay, everything is just– chef's kiss. I love it so goddamn much. And this is literally copied word for word from the script with a few minor changes. Just a heads up.
I mean I was bored one night, and I decided to put on 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' and jot down everything I heard and saw word for word. This started off merely as a way to practice and improve my body language and dialogue writing skills.
Then I got the idea to make a fanfic out of it just for the fun of it, hence the Larry.
Obviously this fic contains spoilers, so if you want to watch the film, you should probably do that first and then come back later. (I strongly recommend watching it, it's so intense and unpredictable and, God, it's so painfully underrated. It had me hooked from start to finish.)
In no way am I trying to romanticize or defend Tom's character in this film. I am a hundred percent against his actions. But I can't deny that he is a very interesting and complex character and I find it incredible how he manipulates with our sympathies so much that some viewers actually catch themselves rooting for a literal serial killer whilst watching this film. (At least I did, oops.)
I would also really like to clarify that I am not interested in painting Harry nor Louis as these characters. I am strictly only using their names and appearances, but everything else (possible mental illnesses, thoughts and family members, relations and personalities) are purely fictional.
