Evanna walked out of a handsome high-rise white building, a folder and purse clasped in her hand. Her face hardly gave away any emotion. Taking her phone out of her purse, she dialled a number.

"Hello? Eva?" the metallic voice of a woman, who picked up after a few rings, came from the other side.

"Meet me at the family dining place opposite your office," Evanna said.

"Wait! How-"

"I know it's gonna be lunch break in a few at your office so you better not make any excuses girl!" Evanna spoke into her phone, a hint of some sass clear in her tone.

The other woman laughed. "Of course, I'll be there in 5."

Evanna hanged up.

After five minutes she walked into a family restaurant called Susan's. The place had opened recently, but news of its apparently amazing food had already reached Evanna through Ella, her friend on the phone. Eva and Ella have been friends since middle school, and usually when something huge happened in either's life, the other was the first person who got to know. As was going to be the case now.

Ella waved her hand from a table at the secluded back of the restaurant.

"So?! I'm dying here!" Ella said as Evanna took a seat at the table, her eyes brimming with an anxious excitement. "How was the interview?!"

Evanna took a deep breath. Then-

"I NAILED IT!!!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. Everyone else in the restaurant turned around to look at their table. With an an embarrassed look, Evanna settled deeper into her chair.

"OH YOU GO GIRL!!" This time it was Ella's turn to scream. Everyone turned to look at them again.

"Oh please my friend just got a job at her dream publishing house, let us rejoice!" Ella said before turning to look back at Eva.

"So how was it?? I want details!!" she said.

"Well, I think I died a little out of a mixture of excitement and happiness when I saw Chief Editor Sally Oswald. She is just so elegant and so smart, I cannot even put it into words. She and some other people from the management department took the interview. It was slightly embarrassing when I just stared at Sally for a while after she said that I got the part. They freaking asked me if I was feeling alright, uurgh!!"

"And? When do you start working?"

"Well, Sally is in immediate need for an assistant so I start from tomorrow."

"This calls for celebration, it does!" Ella said excitedly.

"Yayy, Netflix and Chinese takeout at my house tonight?"

"What?" Ella looked at Eva as if she had swallowed something bitter. "No Eva!! That's how we used to celebrate back in middle school! And you've been stuck in your apartment with all the unwashed laundry, studying and preparing for this interview for the past several weeks. You need to go out and have some adult fun!"

Eva gulped. "Yeah but what does adult fun entail?"

"Well it includes going to a fancy bar with friends and dressing sexy so that the guys buy us drinks and then flirting with them for fun and, if you feel like it, go home with them at the end," Ella finished with a wink at Eva.

"Whoaa.... I don't think all that's for me...." Evanna said.

"And why is that? It's not like you haven't drunk or had sex before."

"Yeah but that was such a long while ago. I've been away from both for such  long time..."

"And?" Ella said in an incredulous tone. "So what??"

"But-"

"No further buts, assistant of the Chief Editor at Oswald & Fisher! I'll be at your apartment today by 8:30 because I don't trust you to show up or dress appropriately."

"Ok fine! But what is this fancy bar that we are going to?"

"Hmm, so I have made this new friend from a recent office party and he seems to be a bigshot. Like, he's a rich guy in business. So we've been talking, and maybe I can ask him for a favour for this big occasion?"

"Oh whoa, who's this new dude?" Evanna asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Oh god, it's nothing like that!"

"That's what they say!"

"Well I'm not they. Also you know that if something happens you'll be the first person to know!"

"Hmm, that I know," Evanna said smiling.
