"Williams, what's troubling you?" Stephanie inquired.
"Nothing serious, just feeling a bit tired," he replied.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Alright, should I go ahead and set the table?"
"No problem, but give me a few minutes to freshen up."
"Okay," Stephanie responded, making her way to the kitchen.
She had prepared pasta, which she arranged in a cooler on the dining table. Alongside the cooler, she placed plates in a basket.
Meanwhile, Williams sat at the edge of the bed, deep in thought. The idea Xavier had shared with him, which he then relayed to his boss, hadn't translated into a successful machine. The potential impact on his promotion was unsettling.
"I really need that promotion," he muttered as he headed to the bathroom. Stephanie entered and announced, "Honey, dinner is ready."
"I'll be there soon," he replied, planning to take a quick shower before joining his family and Xavier for the meal.
"Bless this food in Jesus' name," Williams prayed.
"Amen," they echoed before starting their meal.
"Forgive the interruption, but you seem stressed. What's bothering you?"
"The idea you suggested didn't pan out, and it's jeopardizing my promotion."
"Don't worry, I'll help you figure it out."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'll assist in developing the machine."
"Thank you so much. I'll really appreciate your help."
"Of course, all credit to God," Xavier responded, and they resumed their meal.
After eating, Xavier sketched the machine's design, impressing Williams with his ingenuity.
Later, Xavier joined Williams at his workplace. Utilizing the available materials, Xavier successfully constructed the machine, capable of eliminating vampires with toxic gas. Their solution coincided with a presidential directive to stay indoors due to the vampire outbreak.
Williams consulted his friend and partner, Dr. Joe Bean, about the gas. The substance was transferred to an experimental laboratory for testing. Despite three months of experimentation, the vampire problem persisted.
Meanwhile, Williams grew curious about Xavier's family background, realizing Xavier had never mentioned them. He discovered that modified irrigation drones could disperse the gas, bringing hope despite the absence of celestial bodies in the sky.
