The volleyball came zooming at her face faster than anyone could have predicted.
Except for Todd.
Having been watching her the whole game, he ran from two rows in front of her and pushed her out of the way of the speeding spike.
He didn't quite anticipate that Ava was going to smell that nice, or that he wasn't going to want to let go. Ever.
Before he or she knew it, they were in a heap of arms and legs on the floor, laughing. Suddenly, they both grew quiet.
He was thinking of kissing her, but what was she thinking about? He found out soon enough when she pulled his face down to hers, and all of the sudden it didn't matter that they were on the gross floor of the gym or that everyone was there, and he was probably crushing her; all he could do was kiss her back.
