23. Encounter

Todd glanced at the crowd as he peeked through the curtain, he moved away and let out a frustrated breath, "what do I do?" He bit his fingers in panic.

"Mr. Todd! Mr. Todd!"

Todd looked up from his finger to the young woman who ran to him, "what?"

"Manager Kelvin is calling?" The staff signalized to the phone he was holding.

Todd's breath hitched and he quickly rubbed off the saliva in his fingers on his trousers and he took the phone and raised them to his ear, "hello, si-"

"WHAT AM I HEARING ABOUT ERIC?! IS IT TRUE?!" The man yelled from the phone making Todd shake in fear.

"I'm sorry sir, it's true. Eric is on the plane to California," Todd answered with a shaky voice.

"HOW! HOW DID HE LEAVE AND YOU DID NOT NOTICE?!! HOW?!" There was a thud from the other side as Manager Kelvin barked.

"I don't know how he did it, sir," Todd's voice cracked.

"OH, MY FREAKING GOSH!"

And Todd stood in fear waiting for the man to calm down.

"Mr. Todd! The crowd has started complaining! What are we going to do?!" A staff yelled as she ran in.

Todd let out a frustrated cry.

"YOU STUPID!" Manager kelvin yelled from the phone.

And Todd answered, "yes sir."

"Make a scene like Eric fainted again because of his sickness and cancel the concert," his voice was lowered unlike before as he commanded.

Todd paused as he thought of it.

"ARE YOU HEARING ME?!" Manager Kelvin yelled again and Todd answered as he cowered in fear.

"When you are done, fly back to California. The conference meeting will be moved to tomorrow!"

"Okay, sir." Todd turned back to the worker and he gestured for the head staff to come closer. The lady moved closer to him and Todd whispered, "Eric is nowhere to be found," he paused as the head staff interrupted.

"What?! What about the audience?! The people outside!"

Todd let out a quick hush and he looked around themselves, he whispered again, "I know. That's why I called you here," he paused and let out a breath, "we will have someone to faint in place of Eric and put a show that he fainted again."

The head staff questioned in surprise, "what?"

Todd nodded, "yes. We have to put a show that Eric fainted so that the audience, his fans can leave peacefully and this will also help to clear some questions that will be asked at the conference meeting tomorrow."

The head staff nodded as she thought more about it, "Okay. I'll have my staff prepare for it."

Todd nodded and the head staff turned away and ran to her workers.

She dropped her plate into the drawer and she strode out of the kitchen. "What are you guys watching?" She questioned and sat down on the couch facing Amie and Betsy.

"Umm..." Betsy glanced at Amie as she stuttered, contemplating whether to tell her or not.

"Eric's concert. We are watching Eric's concert," Amie said nonchalantly while looking down at her phone.

Macy's heart skipped as she heard his name again but she remained calm.

When Amie realized what she said, she spun to Macy with widened eyes and with anxiousness on her face, "I'm sorry."
