Flash forward 1 year later-
Claire did survive the treatments, she will move back home in a few weeks and get to see Caroline again.
5 weeks later-
Claire comes off of her exhausting flight at the airport and sees Caroline, but Claire can't move, she is confined to a wheelchair with a breathing machine for pretty much the rest of her life. Caroline runs over and they are so excited to reunite. Caroline tells her all of her exciting news like how she graduated high school, she's in college, she has a boyfriend, and how she made a new friend. Wait a new friend? Claire gets a little upset because she got replaced by some girl in Caroline's college. But eh she was gone for a year, Caroline needed someone to hang out with.
