"Alex..." I stepped into the room and neared him, slipping into the space beside him and taking my seat, our legs brushed against eachothers.
"Why'd you do it?" He asked, his eyes focused on the meat before him.
"It helps..with the thoughts." My eyes downcasted to his hands, I didn't know where else to look and he had nice hands.
"You know I said to you before you left that you could ring me whenever you needed to, Eleanor if you said the word I'd be here in a heartbeat." Alex placed the food onto the rectangular coffee table in front of us and rotated his body to face me.
"I know but, you guys have been busy, I didn't want to be a burden.." I mumbled incoherently.
"I don't want you thinkin' that of yerself, you're not a burden El, you're my friend I want to be there for you no matter what." Alex's warm hands linked into mine, he squeezed them reassuringly as my eyes trailed upwards to meet his own.
"I just want this all to be over with Al, it's only getting worse, I mean-I-I'm a suspect now..." My voice cracked slightly, no no no, don't cry Eleanor, you're okay, you're okay.
"I'm not letting the police do anythin' to you, I know you didn't do this I know, they won't arrest you again I'll make sure of it." Alex's left hand left my right hand and moved up to my cheek, he cupped it gently moving my face upwards so I could meet his eyeline. My cheek tingled under his palm for some odd reason.
"Thank you.." I whispered, the warmth his palm radiated onto my skin was reassuring, I could've stayed like that forever.
Alex slowly moved his hand off of my cheek and picked up my food, handing it to me before he picked up his own; we spent the evening catching up and devouring every last crumb of food we had bought. Avoiding the conversation of going into depth about why I did drugs, I was thankful he didn't mutter another word about it.
Although the night with him was amazing My chest felt rather heavy as I was partially lying to Alex, I felt like I should tell him the whole truth about Sebastian but I didn't want Alex to get angry with me due to my stupidity.
"I never asked..." I started and placed my mug onto the table, we'd long finished our food and it was just nearing midnight.
"..How are you, since..Thalia?" I hesitated a little but Alex seemed to be okay with my question.
His eyes downcast to the floor for a moment but soon moved back up to meet mine, he let out a lengthy sigh and ran a hair through his hair. "I'm alright yeah, the first week or so was rough but it were mutual, we're still friends, just don't really contact her much tha' knows."
I hummed in agreement, my phone buzzed multiple times on the table snatching me from our conversation. I apologised to Alex as I picked it up and glanced down at the screen.
Message received from Luna<3
You need to look at the news now,
Eleanor this is serious, you're in
Big trouble...
I found myself gulping down the dry air lodged in my throat, shakily I placed my phone back down onto the table and grabbed the TV remote, Alex watched my every move.
"S-sorry, Luna just told me I need to put the news on.." I mumbled, my eyes focusing toward the TV as I flicked through the channels before the news filled the screen.
