Authors note:
The story does contain some violence and/or blood. Fair warning to any who plan to read it. The story is also for me to use as a stress reliever/overflow for my other story, "Pokémon mystery dungeon: adventures of Sam and Eva", which you should definitely go read and comment on! Other than that I think that's everything I need to say. Thanks, and I hope you like it!!! XD

"I doubt there's gonna be any treasure in here."

An Oshawatt and a Popplio were walking through a wooded forest, the rays of a summer day filtering through the leaves onto the forest floor. The Oshawatt was lagging behind, seemingly annoyed by the sea lion Pokemon, who was gleefully hopping along the path in front of them.

"Then why don't you go back?" The Popplio replied, hopping onto a rock and spinning around in joy. "I can handle this all by myself!"

"Which is exactly WHY I have to stay with you!" The Oshawatt exclaimed, brow furrowed. "You can't see trouble for the life of you! I ought to drag you right back home!"

"Then catch me!" The Popplio giggled as she leapt off of the rock and took off.

"Hey! Wait up! No fair!" The Oshawatt shouted as he ran after her. "You know I don't like to run!"

"Where is she now?" The Oshawatt grumbled to himself. "Poppi always does this! She wants me to chase her around the forest so that she can find a new hiding spot. It's so frustrating! I wish she could just stay put for once!"

The Oshawatt kicked a pebble. "At this point, teacher won't allow either of us to explore the woods! It always takes me an hour to find her and then we have to walk back! I'll never be back on time if she keeps doing this!"

The Oshawatt walked some more, calling out the Popplio's name. "Popp-piiii! Where are you? I'm tired of walking, and I still need to get back to Teacher! Where are you?!"

The Oshawatt finally spotted something dark blue sitting by the edge of a pond. "Poppi!! There you are!" He said, rushing over to her. "Time to-"

He then noticed that Poppi was crying.

"Poppi, what's wrong?" He asked concernedly.

"Jack, is- is he... dead?"

Poppi pointed out to the middle of the lake, where something yellow and orange was floating in the water. Yellow and orange? No... yellow and... red. Lots of red. Blood red.

Someone was in the lake, and they were hurt! But how? How did they get here, and in the middle of a pond of all places. There were no cliffs or anything nearby! But now wasn't the time for that, now was the time to act!

"Stay here." Jack said before diving into the water. 'I have to save them!' He thought as he swam over to the injured Pokémon.

The Pokémon was a Pikachu, scratched up all over and with wounds on its sides. It had some sort of bag on it's back, not like anything Jack ever seen. The Pikachu was still breathing. 'Good.' Jack thought. Jack swam the Pokémon back over to his sister.

"We need to get this Pokémon back to town." He said to his sister. "And fast!"

———————-

They dragged the Pikachu all the way back to town and brought it to the hospital. Jack admittedly felt really bad for not telling Teacher, but he knew he had to take care of the Pokémon first. He was just hoping that Teacher wouldn't be too angry with him.

"How is he?" Poppi asked the nurse once again.

The nurse at the desk put down her clipboard and sighed. "He's still recovering. I'll let you know as soon as he's awake. Now, will you please let me get back to what I'm doing?"
