"Guess she's not coming," Ian mutters under his breath before he takes a sip from his gin & tonic. He laughs bitterly as the thought passes his mind this drink is her favorite, one he learned to love as quickly as he fell in love with her.

His gaze shifts around the room once again, silently hoping that he was wrong, that he just didn't look enough  given that Prohibition is always jam-packed this time of the night. Silently hoping that when he turns around, he'd see the face of the woman that hadn't left his mind in months.

He glances at his watch; 10:37 PM.

Everyone who knows her knows that she is uncompromising when it comes to time. Still, he hoped, and it took everything in him not to succumb to the thought that today is different  that for once, she would arrive, albeit a little late.

After one last thorough search, he sighed, defeated. He put down his now-empty-glass on the counter and proceeded to the stage, his guitar in tow.

"Good evening, everyone. My name is Ian, and I'm here to sing a song for you."

His senses were never that alert, and so he swears it's divine intervention that he heard the faint rumbling of the entrance door.

His gaze shifts and he sees her. He sees Lea.

She's actually here. His heart starts beating at an erratic pace. Yes, he fervently prayed to all the saints that she'd show up today, and though he got his hopes up, at the back of his mind, he knew those prayers were a futile attempt to make an impossible situation, possible.

He was wrong. She's actually here, and unfortunately for him, he didn't think through what would happen now that his dreams have finally turned into reality.

His physical features haven't caught up to the joy he was feeling, and so when Lea turns to look at him, she worries. He sits there, front and center, gaping at her, and she couldn't quite read his expression.

Am I too late? Lea thinks. She gulps as she takes a seat at the bar, quickly asking for a gin & tonic. Ironically, in the same spot with the same drink that he had earlier on in the night.

The first part of Ian's song starts playing in the background. Her musicality is on fire, as usual, and she knew from the first strum what he was going to sing tonight.

She thanked her girl scout self for always being ready with some kleenex.

As the last chorus approaches, he looks up at her. And cliché as it may sound, their eyes lock almost instantly, and she finds herself drowning in his beautiful eyes. Feeling every emotion in the words coming out of his lips, ten-fold.

Cause I think of you when all my stars align.
And I think of you when I laugh baby, every time.
Someday may never come, and we'll be just fine.
But I'll never forget how I felt, tonight.

Tears were streaming down her face as she realized that he changed the last word of the song to fight the situation they are in. Although the waterworks never seemed to stop, her eyes exuded pure joy and love for the man singing on-stage. It took everything in her not to just cross the room and kiss him in front of the crowd.

Ian quickly stood up and dropped his guitar, not really minding where it would land  at this point nothing can bring him down, not even the potential risk of his favorite guitar being stolen.

He quickly covered the distance between them, needing to get closer to her, to shake away the thought that he's officially gone bonkers and that she's merely a figment of his imagination.

So when he stands in front of her small figure, it's an anomaly that that's all he does. He just stands there, carefully surveying her face as if it's the first time he's ever seen her.

"Y-you're here." he manages to say. The smile on his face brings up his cheeks and shines in his eyes.

"I'm here," she says back, smiling with as much enthusiasm.

You'd think that when this moment finally came, he'd take her in his arms and kiss her senseless. Yet there they were merely standing, tears of joy streaming down their faces with the most inhumanely wide grin, not even making a move to reach out to one another.

They both chuckle as they realize how silent they'd been, the dynamics of their relationship have always been far from such. It was as if they'd met for the first time, once again.

But perhaps this is the first time; they've finally turned the page, entered a new chapter, so maybe this reaction is appropriate.

Lea reaches up to wipe his tears with the pad of her thumb. Ian lets out a deep breath and leans into the hand that is cradling his face. She's touched him in far more intimate ways, and yet he's convinced that this right here is his favorite feeling.

"A new beginning," Ian says, a little breathless. He leans closer, allowing their foreheads to meet.

"Our stars have finally aligned, my love," Lea answers before she closes the distance between them and captures his lips in a searing kiss.
