After the unexpected reunion with Pitch, Gaia was uneasy. She knew that his appearance was not a good sign. Last time he was roaming free, there was chaos and she had to interfere.

She was made to heal and protect, not to fight but dire situations forced her to take a stand. Now, the dark spirit was back and there only few capable of stopping him.

The very own spirits chosen 300 years ago. The strongest of spirits, deeply connected with children that believed in them. Task to bring different emotions into a child's life such as hope, joy, happiness and dreams.

She had met them a few times but had taken separate ways when their careers as guardians started. She had her own job to do, keeping her as busy as theirs and thus never truly meeting. However, now they had to before it was too late.

For that, her first stop was at the North Pole. The endless tundra of snow, with no plant ever growing was her least favorite. Animals did exist but barely. She preferred warmer places, filled with green plants and blooming flowers. Cold was never sitting well with her, neither did darkness.

Walking amongst the snow, her barefeet almost complained from the very low temperatures. Earth travelling as she called it, was effective but it had its limitations. Unlike other spirits, she could not fly and she did not wish to do so.

The ground was her home, her strength and that made the wind her kryptonite. She avoided air travels and found others ways, now successfully reaching her destination.

She could remember when it was first built, the current huge workshop once was a small house. Pushing the unlocked doors open she was greeted by nice heat and the smell of eggnog with cookies. All around her, benches that toys were made by furry white yetis while small elves messed around like young children.

Her presence was quickly acknowledged, causing everyone to stop what they were doing and stare. She was known amongst all creatures, magical and not. The elves kept staring but the Yeti bowed their head to the creator of life itself.

She shook her head slightly, indicating that there was no need for such formalities.

"I am looking for North. Can one of you, please, take me to his office?" She asked and gave a smile.

There were a few word exchanges in their language before one stood up and motioned for her to follow. Keeping the smile, she followed by walking by his side. The warm welcoming and the housing in general lifted her mood. Joy was indeed filling this place and it was hard for anyone not to be affected by it.

She walked on the red carpets that decorated every floor, her legs getting their full sensation back. She might not be in full contact with the earth or in a free space, but she could feel the magic existing all around her. Eventually, they came to a halt behind a closed wooder door.

The Yeti did not even knock but just pushed the door open. However, his timing was bad and he hit a flying magical train made of ice that North had just created. The pieces fell on the floor and immediately both of then left noises of shock and displeasure.

The jolly russian man with the tattoos pinched the bridge of his nose as he sat back on his chair. "What is it that you barged into my office without knocking?"

To save the poor Yeti, Gaia walked from behind him and entered the office. Her eyes holding the warmth of a mother, her figure proud and strong. "Hello North"

Her husky voice made the man look up, only to see the spirit standing there. Having not aged at all after 300 years of barely seeing each other. Of course, he kept notice of the seasons changing and the balance of the world. Knowing that all it was because of her.

"Gaia!" He said with a smile, standing up and quickly lifting the shorter spirit before trapping her into a bare hug. "Its been so long. What a joyful visit"

He let her go after a moment, the Yeti already having left them alone. The girl fixed her hair slightly and she had a smile from the sudden contact. North or Santa Claus was known for such firms of affection.

"I wish the reason of the visit was as joyful" she said, her smile dropping and her voice getting serious.

Frowning his big white eyebrows, he motioned for her to take a seat on one of the two red chairs while he sat on his own. "You have that look on your face"

Gaia sat down and left out a sigh, her expression and eyes growing deeper and wiser. Long lost is the mother as the crone had taken her place. "Pitch is back and I am afraid he is up to no good"

North was silent for a moment, then he leaned forward a little bit. "Pitch? That's impossible. He is sealed away, you did that yourself"

"I know but he is back. Somehow he escaped and I didn't know it. I found out because he paid me a visit" she took a deep breath and then exhaled the air. "I came here to tell you. Take the proper decisions"

North was what one would call the leader of the 4 guardians. His worskshop would always be the place of gathering, in a way being the only one with direct contact to the planet earth. He had a huge globe, capable of tracking each believer.

His character also made for a good leader. Strong and fierce but also caring and gentle. He inspired his fellow guardians and always went first, leading them forward.

But for now, he was skeptical. He knew that Gaia would not lie. However, the idea that Pitch is back was not sitting well with him. He simply could not believe it.

He was about to say something when the door was pushed open again by a differnt Yeti. Before he could even ask what happened, the creature spoke.

"What? The globe?" He repeated and exchanged a look with the green haired maiden.

Quick the two spirits walked side by side down the hallway that lead to the main room. Santa motioned to the elves to step aside or he would accidentally step on one of them.

Quick they reached the big room where the replica of the planet was turning slowly. Thousands and thousands of lights positioned across it, each one marking a child that believed in the guardians.

This time though, something had happened because the lights started to flicker. A strong wind picked up, making them raise their hands as something black materialized. Moving around the earth, it looked like black sand. Then, it took the shape of pitch as his dark laughter echoed across the room.

Toys and papers were tossed everywhere as the figure of pitch circled around the globe ones and then exploded, sending black sand and strong winds to everyone.

"You believe me now?" Gaia asked, rubbing her hands slightly.

The laughter and entrance gave her goosebumps, the dark cold coming from the spirit threatening to reach her warm core inside.

"I do and we must act fast"

Without explaining, he walked towards the railing and pulled down a switch. Quciky, the colorful lights of Aurora Borealis appeared on the sky and they would travel across the globe and across all planes of existence. Capable of reaching all words, only the other guardians would be able to see it and read the message behind it.

"Now what?" The maiden asked, looking at him with those innocent green eyes.

"Now we wait. They will come soon enough and everyone will be informed" the jolly man said.

"We?"

"Of course. You saw him first, it would be good to be here for now. See how we decide to act. Your wisdom is always needed"

Gaia looked at him, not sure what to say. She would rather prefer go investigate the hole Pitch crawled from or just do her duties. She could wait until a plan was made and then she would leave. That war was not hers and she had no place in it.
