Start from the beginning

Peter was quick to defend himself. "Of course! I'm just trying to... uh, terribly imply that maybe Loki was kind of... I don't know, not really aware of his actions during the New York attack? Thor did mention that Loki was terribly shy. And they are brothers, and-"

Clint snatched the rest of Tony's whiskey, downing it in one large gulp.

He shakily tossed the glass to Tony, who fumbled with it.

"I- I'm not going to continue talking about this. Plus, it's already 11:30. I'm going to turn in for the night, guys. And gals. And non-binary pals, whatever. Peter... I... I'm not going to argue about this with you. Pietro's probably waiting for me, so..." he slapped his hands onto his thighs, heading towards the elevator.

When the elevator finally rang and opened, Clint stepped in. The metal doors closed before him, taking him up to his and Pietro's floor.

"Did I say something wrong?" Peter quietly said, guilt overriding his tone.

Nat sighed. "He's just... he doesn't want to believe that Loki changed. I'm pretty sure you heard about what Loki did to him, right? Brainwash, kill his own spymates, be used as, ahem, according to Tony, as one of Loki's flying monkeys..."

"I understood that reference!" Steve said again, happily knocking his mug of water to the floor, shattering it. "Uh... well, I'm just gonna clean this up and go the bed. I think it's been a long night... not to mention Bucky and all that."

"Yeah, I think I might do that too," Tony set his empty glass on the coffee table. "Yeah."

"Guess I will, too. Kids - bedtime," Nat said. "Chop-chop," she said over their 'awww.'

Thor sighed. "Going to bed this early? The party is still going!"

"I think the party is just you, Thor," Natasha patted his chest. "Good try though."

With a sigh, Thor finished the rest of his beer, just barely refraining from smashing the glass onto the floor. His mind swam with thoughts of both Jane and Loki, both of whom hated his habit of destroying things. He sighed again.

Steve threw the paper bag filled with the mug shards into the garbage, waving a little 'good night' to Thor before stepping into the elevator, sharply yawning as he pushed the button to his designated floor.

"Prose... Edda." Thor said, watching the elevator shaft doors come to a close. He grabbed the book, sliding onto the empty couch. He opened up to the bookmarked page, eyes scanning over the words and images. "Lokasenna."

Red mist slowly filled the room, unnoticed by the oblivious Thor. "Lokasenna?"

He flipped through the pages of the book, trying to look for a poem about him.

"Thor, Thor, Thor... ah! Here it-" mist threw the book across the room. It skidded across the floor, laying flat open, its spine crack open so that no other page could flutter over any other pages. The only page that remained open, was the Lokasenna.

"What is this-" Thor reached his hand out for Mjolnir, only for the mist to cover his reach, and worst of all, grasp Mjolnir's handle. He gasped in horror. Not only was the red mist so powerful, it was nearly impossible to get out of.

And it wasn't like the Lady Maximoff's- er, Wanda's powers either. It almost reminded him of the Aether's powers... except the murky liquid power was mist and he was suddenly being slammed into the same wall the Prose Edda had slammed into. He tried to break through the mist bonds, only for no prevail. He was stuck.

"Friends..." he choked out. "Help me!"

The book came to life again, spewing out a jumbled green portal. The words describing Loki's verbal duel with the rest of the Norse gods seemed to lift off the page, shifting into green as they flew into the portal. Much to Thor's surprise and relief, the red mist was quickly being sucked into the portal like a vacuum.
