"Not your business," they said in perfect synchronisation. What was their problem? Did they rehearse their dumb speech or something? "Well, whatever you're doing to her is my business." I tried to sound brave, but to be honest I was berated myself for getting into this mess.

Suddenly, the guy nearest to the girl stabbed her in her shoulder with a crude looking knife, causing her to scream in pain. Then the guy tossed the knife towards my direction, and my dumb reflexes told me to catch the knife. I did exactly that, and when I looked away from the knife, the men were gone, but I saw a flash of a cloak on the roof of the building that was next to me and the girl.

"Hey!" I protested, wondering why they threw the knife at me and ran off. Suddenly, I felt myself getting thrown against the wall of the building, smacking my back against it and losing hold of the knife, which was still dripping with the poor girl's blood. "Step away from the girl." From my position on the ground, my body wrecking with pain, I looked up to find a woman in the same suit as the group of soldiers from before standing in front of me, her hand outstretched at my face.

"What...?" I croaked, in too much pain to form any words. The woman mimed picking up something by the throat, and that was exactly what happened to me, her grip choking me. I saw her Aura in her hands, and realised that she had the ability of Telekinesis, a common ability among Savages but still not one to look away from.

"What were you doing to her?" the woman asked, tightening her grip. I clawed at invisible force, my mind was still working to replicate her ability. With a weak hand, I shot a strong bolt of lightning at her, knocking her out cold.

Dropping to the ground, I coughed loudly, panting as air rushed into my oxygen-deprived body. Soon, I could hear more people running towards the little alley. The girl who been stab was still bleeding out, barely able to move an inch. I placed my hands on her wound, pushing my Aura into her injury.

When I first came to Gord, there was one other Savage besides me. He was a healer, a peace loving teen of 18 years. I'd come to befriend him, and soon after his love for peace got him killed when he went out to the forest one day. He'd refused to kill a rampaging Vile, and in turn the Vile killed him. Michael was the one who'd killed the Vile and brought back the teen's body. That was the only time I'd ever seen him cry.

Thankfully, before he died, I'd picked up on his ability, one of the oldest I had, besides Michael's lighting ability. The wound before me closed, and the girl let out a sigh of relief, her head lolling to one side. Now that I'm closer, I could see that she was no older than a six year old, and yet was put through so much pain. Half dragging, half carrying the woman who'd almost killed me next to the girl, I jumped to the roof of the building, my back aching in protest.

However, when I landed on the roof, the sound of a gun cocking froze me in place. I slowly looked up, finding a group of soldiers aiming their energy rifles at me, a blond woman with green eyes glaring into my orange ones.

"You're under arrest for hurting an innocent bystander." The woman said, powerful traces of Aura reaching me. Whoever she was, this woman is extremely strong, no doubt about it. "Wait. That wasn't me," I replied, trying to explain the situation when I spotted the same group of men behind the woman. The leader had a gun in his hands, aimed at the woman's back. "Watch out!" I pushed the woman back, just as the guy fired his gun.

Immediately I felt an acute pain in my left ankle, the pain getting worse as I fell to the ground, my leg unable to support my weight. The woman was beside me, also sprawled on the ground and shaking her head in confusion.

As discreetly as I could I fired a lightning shot towards the leader. However, before my bolt of lightning could connect, the man stepped to the side with an incredible speed. Suddenly, before any of us could move, the man muttered something under his breath, and the whole group of them suddenly merged into one, big Vile.

The Vile was enormous, almost as big as a building and its black sludge-like skin reeked of death. I instantly healed my bullet wound and fired lightning at the Vile, who shuddered under the impact of my attack. However, it didn't seem to faze it much.

How strong was this thing? I wondered as I dashed forward, attempting to lure it away from the dazed group behind me. "Ash!" Michael's familiar voice came from below. I looked down, only to find Michael and the group soldiers from earlier, followed by the leader, Reynolds. Using the ability of Telekinesis, I lifted Michael up onto the roof easily, setting him down next to me.

"New ability, eh?" "Yeah. Now what're we gonna do about this...thing?" I asked, eyeing the Vile, who'd yet to make any moves. "What...just happened?" The woman from earlier the one I'd saved from the bullet, stuttered. "Elena. I'll explain everything later. Now lets just focus on beating this thing." Michael jumps up, summon lightning from his hands and unleashing it onto the Vile.

The woman, Elena, shot a torrent of fire at the Vile, burning its skin. It howled in pain, swiping a hand at Michael. He dodged it and suddenly, in his hands he held a sword, which he used to cut the vile in half. The Vile roared, then slowly disintegrated, its raging howl echoing in the wind.

"What the hell was that?" I asked Michael, curious on where he'd gotten the sword. "The sword is a weapon that only Savages can create. Each weapon is different from another, even if they're both swords. Why'd you think I wanted you to train with weapons?" Michael rolled his eyes. Well, back to the boring old lectures again.

"Who might you be?" Elena asked, walking over to me and Michael. After the Vile fight, she'd gone off to who knows where and suddenly reappeared before us. "Elena, this is Ash. The one I'd told you about," Michael answered for me, for I'm (at least in Michael's head) too dumb to answer for myself.

Suddenly, I smelt something in the wind, something that smelled sweet. I swerved my head towards the direction of the smell, curious, until I felt my body go numb. I instantly fell to the ground, Elena and Michael's concerned shouts ringing in my head. Their voices were too loud, too noisy...I couldn't stand it.

My vision blurred, and the last thing I saw was Michael and Elena, both with equally horrified expressions on their faces. I let darkness claim me, and the ringing finally came to an end.
