Michael stared at me with an emotionless face, but I could already guess what he was going to say if the two gentlemen weren't here. Go away. As simple as that. I muttered an apology to the man I'd bumped into, then turned to go. However, before I could take a step, the man placed a hand on my shoulder, a seemingly harmless gesture but I could feel the threat behind it.
I stopped dead in my tracks, standing frozen still. "What's you're name, boy?" he asked. "A-Ash." I replied, hating the way my voice stammered. As if a regular human would scare me, a Savage.
He turned me around, so I was facing him. He scrutinised my face so closely I could smell his smoke-smelling cologne. I had to fight the urge to retch, instead thinking of anything else that would take my mind of his foul cologne.
Seriously, whoever made it must've had been fired or whatever. There's no way I've smelt anything worse than that.
The man that had stopped me was shorter than the other, with grey hair and dull black eyes. He was larger in size around the torso, reminding me laughably of a fish ball. His companion was taller and lankier, very much like a stick. Otherwise, they were both similar in terms of hair and eye colour.
"Those are nice eyes you've got there," the man commented. My bright orange eyes often catch the attention of many, despite the fact that I disliked it. I've also been told how much I reminded everyone of my mother, who died when I was born. I didn't remember much of her, though.
"Thanks," I said as cool as possible, averting my eyes from staring at the man. "Where did you get that manners from?" he asked, disgust plain in his tone. I bit back a few vulgar remarks, and instead didn't answer.
Michael coughed, directing the two men's attention off of me. "Anyways, Jordan, Thomas. Why are you here?" Michael asked. "Ah yes. Have you heard of the recent rumors lately, Michael?" Jordan, the fish ball-looking one, smiled.
"Uh, no. Sorry, but I'm a busy man. I don't have time for gossip," Michael replied smoothly. The two tensed at that jab, but didn't retaliate. I snickered, then stopped myself. Fortunately, none of them seemed to notice my outburst.
"Anyways, the people of Gord are saying that they've seen someone as tall as this young man here running around town after midnight. Sounds a little suspicious, don't you think?" Thomas, the tall one, leaned forward, towering over Michael.
That statement set me on edge. In Gord, I towered over basically everyone, and now, standing closely to Thomas, I was actually slightly taller than him by a few inches. Finding someone as tall as me in Gord was close to impossible, and now that the rumor has spread, I was in trouble.
"What's wrong with a man walking around late at night?" Michael shrugged, trying to make sure the two didn't notice the surprised expression on his face.
"Well, in a sleepy town like this we wouldn't expect much activity going on around, would we?" Jordan hisses, his eyes slowly turning towards me. What the hell? Just because I'm tall doesn't mean I was the one they were looking for! I was about to give them a piece of my mind when Michael puts a protective hand on my shoulder.
Warning sparks of electricity landed on my shoulder and neck; it took all I had to not jump back and whack Michael at the back of his head. Thomas raises a questioning brow but turned to Jordan, pulling him aside so they could talk.
Michael turns and looks at me sharply, a dangerous gleam in his eyes, as if he were saying, one wrong move and I'll personally flay you alive. I nodded my understanding as discreetly as I could, and Michael lets go of my shoulder.
"Well, it seems that the person we are looking for isn't here, so we shall take our leave." Jordan suddenly announced. About bloody time, I rolled my eyes inwardly, glad to see them go.
