FOREVER

the whole squad was hanging out at timothées apartment for the first time ever. it wasn't much of a "hangout", it really was more of a small party with a lot of drinks.

kimberly decided to stay sober, in case anyone needed a ride home and sophie didn't feel like drinking either. rosie and jackson on the other hand were already screwed. everyone could tell they'd have a terrible morning the next day.

rachel was taking silly mirror pictures with kimberly in the bathroom, while jackson and rosie were screaming their lungs out during karaoke with the rest of the group.

the current karaoke song that was playing was forever by chris brown. it was timothée and riley's song. it was the song that was playing when riley met him at the café and ever since, it became their song.

riley's eyes shot up from the sofa, scanning the room to find timothée and saw him standing in the kitchen, looking for her as well.

"timothée!" riley jumped up and down when saw timothée quickly approach her.

"riley!" he ecstatically yelled and went to grab the two microphones that were lying on the coffee table.

"you wanna?" he extended his hand to give her the microphone and she accepted with pleasure. "hell yeah!" she took the microphone in her hand and brought it to her mouth as the tv screen read "3, 2, 1"

"it's you and me!" riley basically screamed her lungs out to the first lyric in the song. it brought back a lot of memories for her. like the time when she met him, he wrote his number on the napkin he'd used to keep the table at the booth from staining.

or the time when he connected his phone to his bluetooth speakers and put the song on blast and he asked her to be his girlfriend.

"movin' at the speed of light into eternity, yeah." timothée shouted the next line along. oh, how he missed the old times. going to the park with riley and having a picnic, while their song was playing in the background.

or when they were driving around the city at three am, screaming along to their song. one hand on the steering wheel, the other one intertwined with her's.
oh, how he missed those times.

oh, how he missed her.

"tonight is the night to join me in the middle of ecstasy." it's funny how just one song can bring back so many memories at once. the song was like time capsule waiting to be opened, because everytime they played it, it almost was like a new memory unlocked in their mind that they hadn't thought about in forever.

"feel the melody and the rhythm of the music around you, around you." sophie now looked at her boyfriend and her best friend singing together to a song she knew was very dear to them. she should have been feeling jealous, but she wasn't. she couldn't help but smile a little bit at the sight of them. and then it finally hit her.

"i'ma take you there. i'ma take you there. so don't be scared, i'm right here, baby." riley and timothée sang in unison with the biggest smile on their faces, until they're eyes locked. both of them lowered their mic as their facial expressions turned slightly blank. it hit them.

"i- i think i drank too much." timothée excused himself, slamming his hand onto his mouth and ran to the bathroom. rachel, kimberly and liam quickly ran after him and helped comforting him, while jackson and rosie were lying down, half passed-out on the sofa.

riley, on the other hand, was already feeling guilty about what just happened. even though there were zero bad intentions, the guilt started rising up when she was thinking about those times when she was dating timothée.

finally, she couldn't help but tear up. she was in love with her friend's boyfriend. she used her handpalm to wipe away the few tears that had spilt from her eyes, but those few tears quickly turned into a waterfall.

"don't cry, riley. it's okay." sophie got up and walked over to riley to give her a hug. she ran her hand up and down over her back to calm her down from crying and took her to sit on the sofa with her.

"i'm sorry, i probably shouldn't have done that." riley cried out in her arms.

"i know you love him, riley, and it's okay. when i saw you two together, i saw something special, that was love, riley. really, it's okay. i don't see timothée in that way and i probably never will. i think he loves you as well."

sophie just comforted her with the words she wanted to hear. her heart warmed up to the thought of timothée feeling the same way. but wasn't it already too late?
