Sixteen

Zendaya paced back and forth in the station waiting for Dave to come back out of the room with Zhuri and the social worker.

"Had you stayed in a child's place none of this would be happening"

Zendaya stopped pacing "Had you been a fucking parent instead of a line sniffing whore none of us would be here right now."

"You know a man like that can never love you right."

"Shit I've gone my whole life without knowing what love it. Trust me I'm use to it."

"What makes you think that a millionaire would want -"

"What makes you think I won't stomp a hole in your chest. Shut yo bitch ass up"

"Who raised you?!?"

"No you!" I chuckled but quickly stopped at the door opened.

"Z!! I'm going with Dave!!" Zhuri ran to Zendaya.

Zendaya squeezed her eyes shut trying to keep the tears from falling but it didn't work. "Davey you said she would be happy" Zhuri tries wiping the tears away.

"You can't give my daughter away to this stranger."

"Yeah, right" the social worker shoved a cup in their mother chest. "Pee in it. Now."

"You can't randomly drug test me !"

"I can do what I want when a 4 year old is involved. Officer Mendez please escort her."

"Does this mean we can leave?" Zendaya questioned the social worker.

"Unfortunately-"

"Zendaya" Dave cut the lady off. "They gave me temporary guardianship until the trial but you be in contact with her until then."

Zendaya took her bottom lip between her teeth. "That's my sister Dave" she began to cry again. "Y-you, I -no" she hugged Zhuri tighter.

"Baby-"

"When will the trial be?"

"I don't know. Could be weeks , maybe months." The social worker mumbled. "I can try to get you a expedited trial but there's no promises."

"So I can't visit her? Not even for a couple hours."

"You can... but it wouldn't be wise. Right know you are deemed unfit for Zhuri to be around and while I believe that you had good intentions that's not what's being claimed by your mother."

"But she's lying."

"And I believe you sweetie but unfortunately this is how it has to be. Dave I'll be in touch." She walked away from them.

"Dave-"

"It was the only way mamas. She's gonna be okay. I promise. Summer is outside for you & We gotta got baby girl." He softly kissed her lips and hugged her tightly. "Stop crying"

Zendaya kneeled down to Zhuri height. "I'll see you soon kiddo."

"I love you" Zhuri tightly threw  her arms around her sister neck.

"I love you too kid" she kissed her forehead and silently watched them leave.

ZENDAYA

"I been told you put a bullet in your mother." Summer said once I got in the car.

"Do I look like one of the fucking Menendez brothers??"

"Clearly she don't care about her life anyway. Why not end it?"

"Am I suddenly they neighborhood hitman? That's my mom bro. I hate her, I've lost all respect for her and I would kick her down the stairs of Broadway junction if I had the chance but she is still my mother.
