Love. Something you'll see all around. Love is everywhere. It was never there for me, to say the least. Even though everyone around me thinks that it is. But it's not. It simply isn't.
My eyes narrowed as I stared at a woman and man kissing outside in their garden through my window. Maybe she feels the love? Then, why don't I?
Don't get me wrong, I'm doing fine with my wife, Juliette. But something has been off lately. I'm confused. And that'll be until I meet him. Soon, I'll understand. My life will make sense. And I'll be on cloud nine.
With you, my love. And only you.
"What are you looking at?" My wife spoke clearly, her delightful voice startling me just a bit. "Our old neighbor has just ordered another couple off his property." I chuckle, as so did Juliette. "Poor old man. And, I forgot to ask. Are you hungry, darling?" I shake my head to the side, ruffling my hair with my fingers as I answer her simple question.
"No, but I'll be attending my dinner with my parents later in the evening." She raised a brow, seeming to remember the dinner I told her about. "Oh, right. I almost forgot."
"I should probably be heading off, then." I told her, as I step closer and plant a soft kiss on her cheek. I wave goodbye, exiting through the front door to our lovely home. I stroll down the streets, passing by a few fellow townspeople that I knew, saying a simple 'hello' or 'good evening'.
I turn a sharp corner, walking around the block. The couple I saw from earlier could be seen devouring each other's lips, and I could only chuckle at them, continuing to briskly breeze through town. But the corner of my left eye caught the sight of man, whom was curled up in a ball near the corner of a local shop. A thin royal blue plaid blanket hugged his body, as he clutched onto a shaking small dog.
"Good afternoon, sir." He greets, his voice coming out strained and almost disconsolate. "Hello. Please don't call me 'sir'. I don't like that little title. It's overrated." I inform, as the man could only chuckle a little. "I like you, young man. If I may ask, what brought you to stop before me?" He questions, his emerald eyes keeping their heavy gaze as his coffee-colored curls slicked to back of his head. "I couldn't help but to feel pity for you. You seem like a gentleman, you don't deserve to be out on the streets."
The man wafts his hand in a dismissive manner. "Oh don't worry about me. I'm used to this, Betsy and I are doing just fine." He smiled a little, his palms brushing the fur back on the little dog that I assume to be Betsy. "I can see that. Is there anything I could do for you? I would gladly help." I ask, as he only shrugs his shoulders. "It would be very nice if you could give me some food or a bit of money, son. But there is no need!" I frown in disappointment.
"I don't have any food, I apologize." Knowing I was on my way to eat a luxury dinner with my over the top wealthy parents made me sick. I would do anything and everything to help this poor, old man before me. Then, I remembered that I had about fifty dollars tucked into my pocket.
"Here you go sir." I smiled widely, handing him the folded bill as his emerald orbs lit up in pure wonder. "You are a blessed soul!" He exclaims, as I could only chuckle. "It's worth more to you than it is to me. Oh! What's your name?"
"Paul."
"Paul, I really hope things will work out for the better for you and your dog, Betsy." I told, before picking up my feet to continue walking down the street. "I can't thank you enough!" And before I knew it, I gasped at the sound of my name being shouted from a few feet in front of me.
"Justin Bieber!" That is a way too familiar voice. One that belonged to my father. "Father, I'm so sorry that I'm late. I was on just about to be on my merry way." I tried to explain, but he still seemed very livid and irked. "You are not only late for our dinner, but you are also talking to rats!"
