Sophie here BooksAndCocoa I hope y'all are well. Today I'm sharing with you my favorite aesthetic (aka GRUNGE) and a few tips on how to adopt it.
What is the grunge aesthetic?
The grunge aesthetic is an aesthetic which is based on alternative rock music. It was inspired by popular GenX music bands (such as Nirvana) and it was aroused during the mid 80's to early 90's. It is a more carefree and casual aesthetic which supports the idea of only living once and to put it simply, not caring about rules, social standards and what other people think while also shows hopelessness and disenchantment towards modern society. In the latest years it has also been connected with not fitting in, being your own kind of "strange", "gloomy" and "dark".
Grunge fashion
A large part of this aesthetic is the fashion associated with it. Grunge fashion includes dark colors and more "punk" looks. The main elements of Grunge fashion are oversized T-shirts, ripped jeans, vans, converse or other sneaker kinds of shoes, chains, ripped tights, leather boots, a lot of denim and leather, oversized checkered shirts used as jackets, net tights, beanies, layering, band tees etc.
